Bank of America Consultant-Systems Engineer in Jacksonville, Florida

Job Description:

The person in this role is accountable for providing proper and correct fixes to all production job abends that occur in the processing of the daily batch cycle. They will engage applications developers to gauge risk assessment and minimize potential company exposures. This position provides 24x7 support for technical questions and procedural inquiries and will monitor TWS error queue and initiate the resolution of problems as reported by the job scheduling software.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating alternatives and, utilizing all available resources and effecting correct resolutions in the quickest and safest manner. In this role, Consultant Engineer Initiates solution attempts for all jobs where the resolution is pending and ensures that all previously resolved problems have been documented with any required follow up activities and/or recommendations to avoid and reduce problems in the future. The ideal person works effectively as team member when problems require a group effort and ensures all general policies and best practices are adhered to.

Required skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years data processing experience in a large scale, multi-platform environment.

  • Individual must possess excellent soft skills including team building, communication, knowledge sharing, decision making and the ability to train others effectively.

  • Ability to work either stand-alone or as a team player.

  • COBOL, COBOL V5, JAVA, DB2(BMC utilities), VSAM, CICS, JCL, TWS, CA11, FILE MANAGER, TSO, release management tools, Dump Reading, Transmission protocols (NDM,FTP), ticketing systems (REMEDY) , IBM utilities, Microsoft Office Products, Web technologies a plus, excellent communication skills, Root Cause Analysis.

  • A general knowledge of a project lifecycle and management skills.

  • Ability to recognize and record the need for processing improvements and take a leadership role in pursuing the best course of action when service is disrupted, delayed or requires recovery.

  • A good understanding of the financial services industry a plus.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • ITIL Certification and Financial Services Industry experience a plus
