Bank of America Information Security Data Analyst in Jacksonville, Florida

Job Description:

Seeking a passionate Security Operations Analyst to develop, report and monitor operational and access review control performance metrics. Skilled at identifying trend and key areas of opportunity, turn data into information related to the control and the operational effectiveness of the control.

The Security Operations Analyst will be responsible for developing Quality Assurance processes and delivering reports which will be used to report on the health of the control and drive continuous improvements. Example deliverable include datasets which measure control effectiveness, reach and quality (ex: Continuous Control Monitoring), risk reporting / scoring, and pattern analysis.

The Data Analyst will work with team members to instill a data and metrics driven culture for analyzing and interpreting operations data in addition to providing the analytical support to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of these areas. The Analyst will also be responsible for summarizing and reporting data to various partners and Operations management teams. As part of that, the Data Analyst will help identify data processing requirements and on-board toolsets and/or practices which will enable others to operate in a data-oriented fashion.

The Data Analyst duties will include:

  • Identification and assessment of areas related to compliance risk. Documenting findings and recommendations. Drives development and monitors completion of plans of correction.

  • Prepare presentations and reports on results of data synthesis

  • Drive multiple projects forward simultaneously with a willingness to stretch "up" and "down" in responsibilities

  • Write queries/scripts/programs necessary to generate data output and reports, and to input historical and current data.

  • Apply a wide variety of high-level statistical and mathematical techniques to complicated processes for forecasting, profiling, and other complex analytical problems.

  • Translates requirements into clear and concise business rules to be implemented by the automation reporting developers.

  • Performs complex investigation for ad-hoc and standing requests.

  • Explaining results/trends, making recommendations, and offering tactical solutions.

  • Creating and executing SQL queries (Oracle or SQL Server) within databases for analysis, problem solving and evaluating data quality/validity.

  • Research new and existing data sources in order to contribute to new metrics development.

  • Ability to navigate and understand SQL queries within Microsoft Access databases.

  • Maintains detailed documentation and provide follow up timely and consistent communication regarding the status of issues.

  • Performs QA activities to verify results from other team members

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience working with complex based data in an advanced (data mining) analytical function

  • Demonstrate an aptitude for critical thinking in complex situations and an ability to synthesize ambiguous data into concrete insights

  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated working knowledge of statistical models and methodology- able to get to true root causes of issues

  • Confident and persuasive in presenting and visualizing data based insights to a wide audience (of varying degrees of management, business functions)

  • Able to translate ideas and recommendations into a practical implementation plan

  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated working knowledge of SQL programming

  • Must have strong regression analysis experience

  • Work collaboratively with individuals across departments to develop strategies and plans that address root cause issues and place controls

  • Proficiency creating KPIs, Operational/Control Dashboards and reports

  • Advanced knowledge of PC and server-based databases and tools such as MS-Access, MS-Excel, MS-Powerpoint, MS-Visio, Oracle, MS-SharePoint

  • Ability to apply statistical methods and analysis

  • Ability to operate independently and self-lead workload and projects

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field

  • 2+ years in reputable management consulting firm a strong plus

  • A broad knowledge of information security principles (e.g. Identity and Access Management)

  • Programming skills (ex: Java, Python, SQL and / or other languages used to acquire, process, and analyze data)

  • Experience with formal testing methodologies and frameworks

Enterprise Role Overview:

Key individual contributor, with accountability for researching, designing, engineering, implementing, and supporting information security & directory technology systems (software & hardware). Utilizes in-depth technical knowledge and business requirements to design & implement secure solutions to meet customer / client needs while protecting the Bank's assets. Develops and implements security standards, procedures, and guidelines for multiple platforms and diverse environment (e.g. client server, distributed, mainframe, etc.). Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results. Work leadership may be provided by assigning work and resolving problems. Typically 5-7 years of IT experience.
