Aetna Manager, Product Management / Development in Jacksonville, Florida

Position location is flexible. The market this individual will be accountable for is Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City, Texas.


Manage a team of Product Managers accountable for executing on Enterprise product strategy at the local level. Direct development of local product strategies and accompanying portfolio design for Small Group and Middle Market standardized medical portfolios. Manage staffing planning and development activities, including selection and development of Product Managers. Represent product strategic issues with other leaders cross-functionally.

Fundamental Components:

Direct product portfolio strategy development, design and performance monitoring

Drive product innovation as well as product enhancements of Aetnas Small Group and Middle Market products to increase and retain profitable Aetna membership

Ensure adherence to all benefit standards, department policies and compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations

Drives continuous process improvements, compliance and barrier resolution

Ensure integration of product strategy within company/ business unit strategic and operational plans

Direct product analysis to gain a comprehensive understanding of internal and external environmental influences and competitive pressures, incorporates results into product strategy development and on-going product performance monitoring, including key financial indicators

Develop team to effectively communicate and consult with Local Market to ensure that product initiatives focus on long term results/earnings and represent all constituencies effectively (e.g. segments, consumers, providers)

Proactively lead identification and resolution of process gaps to improve quality and efficiency

Recruit and select well-qualified, diverse and talented product management staff

Encourage cross-functional collaboration to solve business issues and support project initiatives

Maintain environment and reward system that encourages initiative, learning and empowerment

Articulate performance expectations and team objectives while collecting and interpreting balanced measures to evaluate team performance


6+ years of related industry experience.


The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
