HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Manager Regulatory Compliance in Kansas City, Missouri

Position Summary:

The Regulatory Compliance Manager is assigned the responsibility/accountability for coordination of the organization for assessing, planning, improving and maintaining compliance with outside regulatory agencies, including, but not limited to, The Joint Commission Triennial survey, TJC Disease Specific Certifications, HCA’s internal regulatory reviews, Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS), Missouri Health and Senior Services, and OSHA.

Reports directly to the Director of Performance Improvement, but maintains communication lines with all members of the Core Leadership team. Primary responsibility is to provide ongoing support, instruction, and leadership to meet and exceed all accreditation standards, certifications and to ensure ongoing readiness for accreditation throughout all accredited/certified programs.

Essential functions:

1. Determines the organization’s current and ongoing compliance with Joint Commission/regulatory standards and provides/coordinates education

  1. Promotes culture of continual survey readiness, acting as a resource for leaders and staff

  2. Facilitates and participates in Regulatory Readiness related committees

  3. Supports with pre-survey and on-site and post survey activities

  4. Facilitates action plans and related responses to regulatory and accreditation body inquiries/reports regarding citations and deficiencies

  5. Develops appropriate monitoring to verify standards compliance

  6. Provides a mechanism which supports and monitors compliance with the Missouri Statutes governing patient rights and grievances

  7. Participate in new employee orientation and other leader education initiatives

  8. Participate and attend annual regulatory conference(s)

    1. Provides direct supervision of the Patient Relations Coordinator

    2. Leads tracer activities throughout the facility to ensure a culture of ongoing regulatory readiness. Creates action plans to improve performance based on tracer outcomes.

    3. Reports/participates in Quality Steering Committee, EOC, and other committees as assigned. .

    Education: Master’s Degree required within 12 months of hire

    Knowledge/Professional Licensure/Registration/Certifications:
    Knowledge of state, federal and Joint Commission regulatory guidelines and licensing requirements; Knowledge of spreadsheets including pivot tables, graphing and basic statistics; knowledge of PowerPoint; knowledge of Quality Improvement methodology and team facilitation. CPHQ preferred.

    Experience: Preferred healthcare and/or regulatory experience

    Management Experience: 2-5 years’ experience in managing teams and/or projects
