Women’s Center and pediatric services with access to pediatric specialists 24/7 Kingwood Medical Center is currently seeking an Occupational Therapist for its Therapy Services. This is a full time/days position.
Responsibilities: Plans, organizes, coordinates and administers treatments of patients referred to Occupational Therapy exercising professional judgment, knowledge and skills in managing treatment plans for the purpose of restoring physical function. Supervises the work of support personnel. Participates in planning and implementing new services and staff development programs. Prior to discharge initiate patient and family education for home exercise and care. Maintains open communication with other therapists, nurses, physicians, allied health professionals to deliver a team approach to each patient. Participates in the department continuous quality improvement and strive to excel in customer relations. Develops occupational therapy programs and market services to physicians. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development as it relates to the different life cycles. Employee will be responsible for knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria for the neonate, infant/child, pediatric adolescent, adult and geriatric population.
Minimum Education and Training: Graduate of AOTA (American Occupational Therapy Association) accredited university or college with B.S. in Occupational Therapy. Successful completion of approved six months’ clinical internship. Successful completion of AOTCB certification examination for Occupational Therapist Registered. One-year rehabilitation experience required. Ability to organize and manage time effectively for maximum productivity and for timely patient evaluations and reporting. Verbal ability to understand medical terminology and how it applies to Occupational Therapy. Ability to effectively communicate with patients, staff, physicians and to effectively prepare meaningful reports. Visual perceptual and motor abilities to understand biomechanics of human body and adapted device actions. Clerical abilities to keep accurate departmental records of patient treatment. Motor coordination, manual dexterity and ability to execute accurately and safely therapeutic procedures and manipulate special equipment. Ability to relate to people during illness and crisis situations. A preference for motivating patients toward their recovery to maximize their rehabilitation potential.
License/Registration/Certification: • Currently licensed or licensure eligible in the State of Texas. • Trained and currently certified in CPR.
