Customs / Logistics Manager – Filtration Division EMEA
Location: Langenlonsheim ,Germany
The Customs / Logistics Manager – Filtration EMEA will provide functional leadership and guidance to the Filtration EMEA region and supporting plants in Germany and Belgium. Reporting to the Langenlonsheim supply chain manager and with functional reporting to the Filtration Division Global Materials Manager, primary in the incumbent’s responsibilities will be coordinating and managing regional end-to-end logistics and maintaining oversight for regional compliance matters (including customs activities, export controls and other elements). The role will finally champion ongoing operational improvements throughout the region geared towards optimizing total freight and transportation efficiencies, including cost-out and warehousing operational improvement projects.
Functional lead for Filtration EMEA logistics and transportation management; supports coordination and facilitation of all regional inbound and outbound logistics, relationship management with regional / global freight forwarders and corporate support teams; augments local units’ ongoing needs related to logistics, warehousing and transportation management matters, including (but not limited to) providing training, tactical support and process / standard work development.
Manages regional freight spend and freight partner performance – develop and monitor appropriate leading and lagging indicators to help establish and sustain controls, working to minimize total landed costs and ensure vendor performance to expectations; oversee regional execution and compliance to division and corporate freight policies; works to drive continually optimizing logistics lanes by leveraging division and corporate scale
Responsible for Filtration EMEA compliance management – manage import / export transactions to ensure compliance with corporate and local, regional and international trade regulations; maintain relationships with local and regional regulatory and compliance agencies (including customs agents and brokers); set expectations and monitor with KPIs and other leading / lagging indicators to ensure compliance and performance is sustained
Maintain awareness of trade compliance policies, procedures, macro-economic and political / governmental issues that could affect regional and local Filtration EMEA operations.
Own and complete annual Global Trade Management audit / assessment process; perform gap analysis and formulate appropriate countermeasures to close gaps and drive continuous improvement.
Facilitate logistics and transportation cost-out initiatives in collaboration with Filtration plants, corporate EMEA regional supply chain team and other resources; provide oversight and monthly report-outs on progress, opportunities and other matters to division materials leadership.
Champion regional Continuous Improvement efforts in warehousing, freight modeling and other logistics matters; aid in global Continuous Improvement efforts, where applicable.
Undertake AEO re-certification activities with the German customs authorities, when required.
Ability to fluently communicate in German and English; fluency in Flemish is a plus, though not required
3-5 years of experience in a similar role, ideally in an industrial setting; direct experience in Global Trade Management / compliance
Prior experience negotiating with and managing freight forwarder and other logistics contracts
Full competency in all applicable trade and compliance / regulatory matters; where required has applicable certifications
Ability to interpret government regulations and trade policies and implications for local / regional contexts
Experience in use of MS Office applications, including Outlook, Excel and Word
Previous experience in leading / facilitating logistics and transportation improvement projects with multi-site implications
Communication and presentation skills – both verbal and written with the ability to make necessary status updates and report-outs to division management; ability to effectively communicate formally to governmental and other regulatory agencies

Strong analytical skills, with ability to mine data to draw meaningful conclusions for management decision-making
Demonstrating of effectiveness in teamwork; ability to work in and with teams of varying functions and cultures
