Job Purpose Statement

This position is responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of Human Resource functions. This position is responsible for recordkeeping, reporting, and information management systems. This position provides administrative and project management support to the Human Resources and Safety management team and is focused on dealing with workers compensation. Manages all leave of absence processes from the commencement of leave to return from leave or separation of employment. Includes but not limited to: medical leave, maternity leave, FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, Short term disability, long term disability, military leave, and other leaves that are required by law or Company policy.

This position requires an extremely perceptive person, who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization. This position requires high energy, forward thinking, the ability to adapt to different environments and the ability to establish trust in the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establishes FMLA requests; tracks and codes documentation in accordance with internal work flow processes.

  • Analyzes FMLA requests and certifications to determine eligibility and compliance with state and federal regulations.

  • Communicates decisions and on-going expectations with employees and managers.

  • Administer injury reporting process, including Workers’ Compensation claims.

  • Review and evaluate all injury reports for completeness and clarity of data.

  • Provide clerical and administrative support to Human Resources.

  • Compose and distribute routine written correspondence from Human Resources focused on Workers' Compensation cases.

  • Collect, sort and distribute incoming correspondence

  • Organize and maintain electronic and paper files.

  • Maintain administrative forms and manuals.

  • Support HR projects including preparation of documents, and follow-up on timelines and deliverables.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to be sensitive to corporate and business needs as well as employee goodwill.

  • Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources programs.

  • Ability to utilize computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment including data entry, database management, and proficient in Microsoft Office software

  • Ability to provide oral and written communication to all levels of employees within the Company.

  • Ability to practice of a high level of confidentiality.

  • Ability to stay current with employment law changes.

  • Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues.

Required Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of three years of experience working in Human Resources

  • High School diploma, Secondary education preferred

  • Experience working with payroll and HRIS systems.

  • Working knowledge of Workers Compensation and OSHA reporting

  • Knowledge of state and federal employment laws relating to key areas of responsibility.
