Our Remediation Services team in Leeds, West Yorkshire is currently looking to recruit a Project Manager with experience of brownfield land investigation, risk assessment and remediation. The successful candidate will be involved in the project management of contaminated land investigation and remediation projects associated with private and public sector clients. Other duties will include mentoring junior staff, and working in multidisciplinary teams in the delivery of EIA related projects and environmental permitting projects.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the industry and be conversant with the UK regulatory guidance applying to remediation activities such as CLR11 and related guidance. We are looking for an ambitious person with strong development skills who wishes to assist in the delivery of exciting contaminated land and remediation projects. The role would suit a self-motivated individual looking to advance their career as part of a dynamic team. Ideally the candidate would also have experience of permitting of industrial sites and/or preparation of land contamination and hydrogeology chapters for EIA reports.
Our UK Remediation Services group comprises some 120 specialist staff and provides the complete range of services to public and private sector clients from desk studies, site investigations, risk assessments, remediation designs and supervision of remediation on site. The Leeds team has an established track record of successfully delivering brownfield reclamation and development schemes throughout the country, as well as providing such services to support the maintenance of environmental permits at our clients’ major industrial installations. We are now looking to enhance and grow this team with individuals with a sound technical background and experience that share our enthusiasm and determination to support our expanding workload.
Our clients are from the private and public sector and our leading UK clients include the Environment Agency, Homes and Communities Agency, The Coal Authority, BP, Dow Chemicals, Shell, Ineos, National Grid, Scottish and Southern Energy, Siemens, Associated British Foods, Defence Estates, HS2 limited and numerous Local Authorities, as well as leading contractors and developers.
The appropriate level of technical expertise is required in order that the Job / Project Accountabilities listed below can be carried out to the necessary standard:
Produce and review phase 1 desk studies containing qualitative risk assessment for human health and the water environment, with the necessary level of detail as required providing a basis for design of ground investigations;
Design, specify and deliver intrusive site investigations at a range of scales from small 1 Ha sites up to major infrastructure projects;
Supervise intrusive investigations on site;
Write interpretative geo-environmental reports including semi quantitative and quantitative risk assessments for human health and the water environment, in some cases involving use of numerical models with support from senior staff as necessary;
Reporting to the team leader you will also interface directly with other team members, from graduates to Directors,
You will have strong development skills and have the potential to develop and manage the work of others if and when required.
Have the technical ability, knowledge and competence to provide guidance to less-experienced junior staff.
Ability to work collaboratively and iteratively within a multi-disciplinary design team.
Establishing strong working relationships with other internal teams, particularly with AECOM’s EIA and geotechnics teams co-located in Leeds
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in professional practice;
Demonstrable track record in project management and project financial management;
Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite;
Experience of designing and managing intrusive ground investigations, including the appointment of subcontractors, collection and analysis of soil, groundwater, and gas sampling, and preparation of factual and interpretative reports;
Experience of undertaking human health and controlled waters risk assessments;
Experience of some or all of the following is also advantageous: gINT or HoleBASE , ProjectWise, CLEA, EA RTM (P20), ConSim
You will have obtained BSc or B.Eng and be qualified to at least Masters level (MSc, M.Sci, M.Eng) in earth science, engineering geology, environmental geology, environmental engineering or environmental pollution control or a related subject. You will be approaching or will have recently achieved chartered status (C.Geol, C.Sci, C.Env or C.Eng are preferred).
