Lockheed Martin Manufacturing Engineer - Fixed Wing - Production Engineering - Aircraft in Lexington, Kentucky
This Production Engineering role shall require the ability to successfully provide technical floor support for fixed wing fabrication, integration, final assembly, and hardware layout activities as a lead within the Fixed Wing platform. Basic support functions of this role include bill of material (BOM) development, router/work Instruction development, investigation and implementation of process improvements, root cause investigation and analysis, and implementation of corrective action plans. The candidate chosen for this role shall be responsible for supporting manufacturing during the assembly, test and delivery phase as well as for developing make/buy plans, and proposal estimates for rotary wing platforms. The successful candidate must exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written sufficient to support interface with internal and external customers including Sourcing, Quality, and Production Planning regarding realized material and technical issues. The candidate chosen for this role must exhibit the ability to read, and skill to interpret engineering drawings and facilitate error correction on technical documents identified prior to and during manufacturing. This role also carries responsibility for general review of production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related task order specific information.
Basic Qualifications •Fixed Wing integration and assembly experience •Excellent verbal and written communication skills •Demonstrated teaming and organizational skills •Ability to support producibility analysis for integration and assembly activities as well as for manufactured “piece parts” •Ability to conduct root cause analysis of assembled and detailed part failures/defects and establish corrective action plans to prevent future defects •Experience with development of routings, work instructions, and manufacturing bill of materials •Must be able to work with operators to ensure work instructions for processes are accurate and adequate to yield high quality products •Must be proficient in one or more CAD software suites •Working knowledge of engineering drawing interpretation and tolerances •Ability to travel as necessary (<25%) •Understanding of configuration control principles
Desired skills •Fixed Wing experience •Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other technical degree •Experience with material handling, work flow, and process development of complex assemblies, mechanical details, tooling and aircraft integration •Dual discipline engineering experience: mechanical and electrical backgrounds •Lean six sigma training, i.e. green belt, or black belt certified •Experience with use of Team Center Engineering software package
