Join an actuarial team directly supporting Aetna's local and regional business in Maryland/DC/Virginia. This role is responsible for leading all actuarial services supporting a local health plan.
Lead/manage projects in support of strategic and operating plan goals. Negotiate and influence sound business decisions by adhering to established risk management principles. Anticipate and recognize matters that materially affect financial results and make sound, unbiased reports on these matters. Develop a high performing team, including responsibility for hiring and termination decisions. Have product and business knowledge. Review assumptions developed by staff from a business perspective and be able to influence senior management to accept alternative recommendations. Responsible for regulatory and rate filing correspondence. Integrate understanding of internal and external data sources for quantifying risks.
Bachelor's degree along w/7+ years related work experience
FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) is desired, minimum of ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) is required
Prior management experience is required
Prior Healthcare experience is required
Strong communication skills are required as you will be working w/Market Leaders
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Actuarial/Fellow of the Society of Actuaries is desired
Actuarial/Associate of the Society of Actuaries is required
ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION
This role will work collaboratively with a number of senior business leaders across Health Plan Management, Actuarial, Underwriting, Sales, Finance and other areas. The role will include management of a staff of less than 10 employees. We strongly desire for this position to be located in Maryland as you will be responsible for the Maryland/DC/Virginia markets.
