Job Description

Littleton, MA - The System Designer applies reference system designs to meet specific customer requirements. The incumbent documents all facets of system integration including comprehensive drawing sets, parts lists, cable schedules and system configuration details. EOE Minorities/Females/Veterans/Disabled

Job Duties:

  • Work with other Designers to originate signal flow and rack elevation drawings and to assemble complete system installation drawing packages in AutoCAD.

  • Adapt audio, video and control flow diagrams to meet site-specific requirements.

  • Adapt rack elevation and wiring detail drawings to meet site-specific requirements.

  • Document structural requirements (e.g. blocking, bracing, etc.) for the mounting of displays, cameras and other equipment.

  • Confirm applicability of offered solutions to specific customer requirements.

  • Create, review and maintain documentation for the installation team (e.g. verify dimensions; determine system power, heat load and mechanical requirements).

  • Study and document site specific conditions and customer requirements.

  • Collaborate with other Design and Documentation team members to create, document, and enforce standards and procedures.

  • Create/edit work instructions using AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office.

  • Conduct site surveys and capture/verify field measurements as needed.

  • Perform all other essential duties as required.

Job Requirements:

(ONLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL BE CONSIDERED)

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline is required.

  • Minimum of 1 year of in-field professional audio and video installation experience of an intermediate to advanced level is required.

  • Minimum of 1 year of professional drafting experience related to AV design is required.

  • CTS certification is required.

  • Must be fluent in design and documentation software including AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office suite.

  • Ability to read and author all common AV design drawing types is necessary, including: Audio, Video and Control Flow diagrams, as well as Architectural, Mechanical and Electrical drawing sets.

  • Ability to read and author cable, shelf & rack assembly drawings as well as design or adapt these assemblies and their respective bills of materials is essential.

  • Understanding of analog and digital video standards and transport limitations is preferred.

  • Understanding of professional audio equipment and practice is necessary.

  • Must be familiar with common AV control protocols including Cresnet, Ethernet, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, WiFi and ZigBee.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing is essential.

  • Strong inter-personal and organizational skills are desired.

  • Ability to work effectively on a team or individually, with minimal supervision is necessary.

  • Must be focused, task-oriented, and efficient.
