The role of a Consulting Team Leader is to lead a team of corporate consultants and be responsible for delivery of revenue of $3-5 million for the team portfolio (including a significant growth target). The Consulting Team leader will be responsible for executing the strategic plan and will be responsible for implementing and communicating the business strategy and vision to their team. They will also be a senior consultant in their own right delivering revenues of $300-500k and be a client manager/ client lead on some of MMB’s largest clients. They will be responsible for the retention and growth of their own clients and those in their portfolio team as well as the financial rigor of profit growth and accurate reporting.
As a key coach within the business the consulting team leader will develop the consulting and sales skills of the consulting base to drive performance.
Responsibility to ensure that the team’s clients are effectively managed by the consultants within the team. Management of a personal portfolio of complex clients Is accountable for the profitability of their own portfolio and manages the profitability of the team portfolio through regular meetings with the consulting team. Manages WIP and Debt across the team Responsibility for ensuring that consultants within the team fully adopt MMB’sTarget Operating Model, are compliant with Mercer and MMB systems, and that the service that they provide to clients is fully compliant with The Greater Good and the FCA requirements People Management
Management of a team of corporate consultants to include all aspects of day to day management Fully compliant with the Mercer PFS process Fully support the talent management process with responsibility for ensuring that all consultants within portfolio have a personal development plan in place Responsibility for succession and capacity planning within the team Participation in the annual salary review process Responsibility for delivering headcount and retention for the team and meet any goals on improving staff turnover levels within the portfolio team Provides coaching and people development support to direct reports to increase sales and consulting skills. Implementing initiatives from the corporate LT Supports the portfolio manager in creating business plan Understands and delivers the business plan to their team Owns the sales pipeline management, wip, debt and revenue delivery and reporting for the team Revenue and new business generation
Accountable for delivery of personal and portfolio financial targets amounting to $3-5 million in total Design and execute strategy for new business generation based upon local team knowledge Agree and deliver local contribution to sales activity including leading key pitches Generates sales by expanding revenues from existing clients and participating in new client delivery in a client manager role. Responsibility for ensuring that consultants within the team are also generating sales and achieving revenue targets Builds presence within Mercer as a senior consultant and collaborates with other senior figures, cross business and client leaders/drectors on new client, product or market initiatives and communicates effectively internally within MMB Ensures that the team are fully compliant with sales processes and personally champions the use of Miller Heiman tools and other sales techniques Other:
Takes responsibility for segment or pillar project delivery Develop excellent working relationships with MMB leaders and consultanst across the country and is a contributing member of meetings Liaises with business peer group to share initiatives Actively participates in locals F2Fs Is a role model within EH&B and understands and embraces the wider Mercer vision to others Qualifications Education: Degree level or equivalent Experience: Proven track record in people, business and client management Significant experience at senior level in employee benefits Significant expertise in the sales and relationship management of EH&B related products Proven track record of successfully managing a team in an EH&B Consulting or Sales environment Excellent selling and sales strategy skills, including the ability to close opportunities. Ability to determine prospective business opportunities. Proven experience in building and developing senior client relationships. Experience in development, negotiation and administration of long-term contracts. Knowledge and skills: Renowned expertise and reputation in the health & benefits field Ability to lead and motivate others, particularly in a sales driven environment Ability to meet the technical requirements for grade and pillar in line with MMB technical competencies and role profiling forms. Ability to work both independently (initiate/qualify prospects) and as a member of a (general and technical) team (developing proposed solutions). Very strong organization and time management capabilities Financial and commercial acumen Ability to champion Mercer processes including sales, sales campaigns, and tools. Demonstrate appropriate and professional conduct and appearance at all times. Ability to learn, understand and apply the Mercer value proposition.
