Shell’s Global Commercial and Chemicals business is investing significantly in a high-growth journey starting now. Join us in this influential lead architect role and you’ll have architectural accountability for the digital IT agenda for this growth journey. You will be creating some of our most transformative and high-profile projects. You will be collaborating on fast-to-market new solutions to enable transformative business models. You’ll join a well-respected team of enterprise and solutions architects who work in Bangalore, London and Houston to support Shell’s Global Commercial & Chemicals business (GCC). GCC is growing fast and aims to be the best in the market when it comes to supplying lubricants, aviation fuel, bitumen and chemicals to customers in countries all over the world. Your contribution will make a measurable impact on Shell’s effectiveness and profitability.
This is a lead architect role. The focus is on driving the digital agenda across all of Shell’s Global Commercial and Chemicals businesses. You will be discovering and proposing innovative market-differentiating solutions based on new or disruptive technologies. You will be responsible for inspiring and mobilising skilled teams deliver to ambitious time-lines. That means directly interacting with business process owners and senior project managers and dealing with a diverse range of technology and business challenges.
You will have had recent hands-on experience in delivering value from disruptive technologies like
Artificial intelligence and Machine Learning;
Blockchain and the IoT.
Naturally proactive and curious about developments in your field, you’ll quickly get to grips with our architecture framework and cultivate a network of trust within Shell’s IT and business communities. If you like to challenge decisions and enjoy selling solutions to stakeholders, you’ll be in your element in this highly visible role.
What we need from you
Alongside proven experience in a similar role in a similar rapidly developing environment, you will have a track record in delivering solutions based on one or more of the following technologies:
Artificial intelligence and Machine Learning;
IoT and other more embryonic emerging technologies.
You will be experienced working on agile projects to prove concepts and business value from ideas. Your track record will include the ability to ‘fail fast’ and learn from previous experiences.
Of graduate calibre, probably in IT, Information Management or Software Engineering, you’re preferably someone who’s shown you can engage and inspire teams comprising business leaders; enterprise architects and IT leadership, as well as developers, testers, business analysts and project managers. Your CV also includes as many of the following as possible:
Communication skills at all levels, in person and in writing- including an aptitude for storytelling
Ability to balance and prioritise work across multiple projects.
Experience of Agile projects
Experience of working in virtual teams including business and IT functions, ideally across different locations and time zones
Awareness of Architecture frameworks, polices and standards; ideally TOGAF certified.
