Our Opportunity:

Corporate Vendor Management (VM) at Charles Schwab & Co. is responsible for implementing a firm-wide, end-to-end vendor relationship management process to maximize vendor performance and value. Corporate VM identifies, mitigates, monitors, and manages vendor risk; and assists Schwab in meeting regulatory and compliance requirements. The Professional Practices Group (PPG) within Corporate VM fosters improved processes and operations that promote compliance with Schwab Policy and regulatory requirements and maintains a framework for the Corporate VM program that allows us to demonstrate compliance to regulatory examiners, Internal Audit, external auditors, Schwab’s corporate clients, and others.

The PPG has experienced tremendous growth in the number of audits that we support and in expanding our program to manage all third-parties, enterprise-wide, including non-traditional vendors that are not readily integrated into the existing program and support for foreign-offices. This is an individual contributor role but we would anticipate this role would lead teams on projects and there would be future leadership opportunities.

What you’ll do:

The Director, Enterprise-Wide Program Support, plays an essential role in the Corporate Vendor Management Program at Charles Schwab. With broad knowledge of third-party risk management or vendor management, the Director, Enterprise-Wide Program Support will strategize, plan, and implement approaches for better program support across Schwab's business units and affiliates.

This position will be responsible for developing a strategy and plan and then executing on that plan to support business units in managing their own subsets of vendors; integrating Schwab Affiliates, Foreign Office vendors, and non-traditional vendors into the Enterprise-Wide Corporate Vendor Management Program; working collaboratively with Sourcing, Procurement, and Vendor Risk Management teams, as needed, to help them maintain compliance in their processes; maintaining top-line procedures; and liaising with Business leaders, risk groups, and legal counsel, as required. The Director, Enterprise-Wide Program Support, will establish processes and documentation that demonstrate compliance with applicable Regulatory requirements and Schwab Policies and will support audits and regulatory examinations of the Enterprise-Wide Program. This is a demanding position with many facets and organizational needs to navigate, but you will be able to create programs and build relationships that help Schwab better manage the risk posed by third-party service providers.

What you have:

  • 10+ years of audit or risk management is required, preferably in a regulated industry

  • 3+ years vendor risk management is required, preferably in a regulated industry

  • Knowledge of internal controls, financial/banking regulations, and risk assessment and mitigation; understanding of Federal Reserve Bank SR 13-19 is a definite plus

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and have a proven track record of building effective working relationships with internal and external business partners

  • Experience presenting complex topics to Senior Management Committees

  • Ability to lead a team managing multiple projects and succeed in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

  • High level of interpersonal skills, with a proven capability to make contributions to teams and initiatives

  • Proficiency in Excel (required) and experience with Ariba, Hiperos, PeopleSoft and/or Access is a plus

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Graduate degree preferred
