As the Risk Manager you would safeguard the project, its client, reputation, assets and the interests of stakeholders by identifying and managing all threats to the achievement of its project objectives- often involving risk financing including insurance purchase.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Risk Manager will be responsible for:

  • Undertake monthly visits to visit the project team and address crucial project issues

  • Analyse and respond to project risk, issues and opportunities in order to maximise the results of positive events, and minimise the consequences of adverse events

  • Regularly report on key risk and mitigation measures to different audiences

  • Develop, review and implement risk management plan addressing specific needs of the project

  • Facilitate risk management workshops in order to identify risks, conduct qualitative assessments, determine top project risks, mitigation measures and risk owners

  • Conduct Monti Carlo analysis on high risk items

  • Regularly monitor, manage and update project risk registers throughout the project life cycle

  • Risk evaluation

  • Conduct audits of policy and compliance to standards, including liaison with internal and external auditors

  • Providing support, education and training project team to build risk awareness within the project

  • Escalate issues where necessary

  • Promote, find opportunities for and to maintain teamwork

  • Maintain quality of work (statutory requirements, corporate standards)

  • Obtain all publications and policy statements related to the government’s health and safety regulations, policies and procedures ensure that the Contractor draws up a site health management plan and keeps all staff fully informed on procedures

  • Ensures compliance and adoption of practices supporting AECOM OH&S policy

Specific Skills required:

  • Previous experience in a similar role

  • Personal organisation and planning skills

  • Negotiating and influencing skills

  • Excellent communications and presentation skills

  • Persistence, an eye for detail and ability to complete projects and keep to deadlines (in respect of risk reporting)

  • Ability to understand and learn risk management software

  • Willing to share knowledge, experience, ideas and expertise for the betterment of group and self

Minimum Requirements

  • 10 – 15 years related experience

  • Demonstrated commercial acumen in the engineering and construction environment

Preference will be given to nationals from sub-Saharan countries

Preference will be given to individual who have relevant experience working in sub-Saharan Africa

Incumbent should be willing to move in-country

Should have experience in airports, ports, roads or railway

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post graduate Degree / Diploma in Engineering

  • Formal training in Risk Management

  • Professional qualification from the Institute of Risk Management will be ideal
