Job Summary

AECOM Mexico is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Design Experience, Junior Civil Engineer for immediate employment in Mexico City. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in (Civil Engineering or related Engineering).

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Liaises with project PMCM team to coordinate design requirements, studies, scheduling, deadlines and target service level for each task type

  • Supports PMCM team in managing technical liaisons with local administrative authorities and other local organizations

  • Liaises with external advisors, development partners, planning related service providers, technical consultants, subcontractors, surveyors, clients, landowners, grid operators, electric utilities and other involved stakeholders

  • Works on site during construction phase of project

  • Inspects and verifies the quality of works being performed and reports to the PMCM Team

  • Supervises any necessary tests related to the scope of the project

  • Provides engineering support to startup, testing and system commissioning

  • Troubleshoots and finds solutions to any technical issues or defects encountered on site, either electrically, mechanically, regarding civil works or with materials, and working with all relevant stakeholders to establish the most appropriate technical solutions

  • Conducts and documents Project Design Reviews in order to provide an analysis of the project design’s technical consistency

  • Carries out a technical analysis of the project during construction stage in order to identify any non-conformities and to propose suitable solutions for project design and/or technical problem issues

  • Ensures engineering documentation is up to date at any time during the entire project construction cycle

  • Ensure all Health & Safety requirements are taken in account when preparing designs in order to significantly reduce the risks to safety and health during the construction stage and during subsequent use and maintenance of the construction

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or technical discipline related to the field

  • 2+ years’ experience in the field

  • Strong skills in written and spoken communication

  • Organization and time management skill

  • Flexibility to work on a diversity of technical projects, a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative

  • Fluent Spanish and English

  • Willingness to travel and to stay for long periods of time on site

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master degree

  • Use of AutoCAD, PVSyst and any other industry databased and tools used for design and modelling

  • On-Site experience with piping and fuel systems, high voltage, multi-MW scale systems is a plus

  • Experience with medium and high voltage grid connections, including transmission lines and substations

  • Familiarity with the Mexican market, and knowledge of applicable building, oil and gas, and electrical codes for the region

  • Experience in construction activities – engineering support, specification and schedule monitoring, testing and commissioning

  • Experience with national oil and gas industry is helpful

  • Experience with substation, HV line construction, and interconnection works is helpful
