This is an exciting opportunity in Tokyo for a Supply Chain Leader. Cummins Distribution Unit (DBU) in Japan is where Supply Chain Leader can lead efforts within one or more Supply Chain functions including materials, production, inventory, logistics, demand management and order fulfilment. Ensures internal and external customers' expectations and requirements are met from end to end in each of the supply chains.

Thinking beyond your desk includes:

  • Manage daily operations across functions to ensure a dependable and efficient supply chain.

  • Lead continuous improvement projects that align with Cummins Operating System and Functional Excellence direction and leverage common processes tools, and information systems.

  • Support Corporate Supply Chain initiatives and lead the cross Business Unit planning processes to ensure intra-company alignment.

  • Mitigate long term supplier constraints by collaborating with functional stakeholders.

  • Create common supply chain processes and procedures by establishing collaborative business partner relationships.

  • Approach daily problem solving and continuous improvement opportunities strategically and tactically to achieve performance targets.

  • Develop, understand and improve necessary Key Performance Indicators.

  • Analyse operational trends and develop corrective action plans.

  • Address supply chain failures promptly to ensure operations stability; escalate as appropriate.

  • Prepare and manage an annual operating plan including expense resources, and capital.

  • Manage, coach, and develop staff; work with employees to set goals in training and development, performance, and career planning.

Others

  • Manages purchasing, warehousing and logistics functions for $100M business

  • Responsible for approximately $10M inventory

  • Responsible to manage third party logistics partner, HTS

  • Responsible to manage a combined staff of approximately 25

  • Responsible for supply chain strategy, tactics and KPI delivery

Skills:

Analytical Reasoning - Has an advanced understanding of analytical methodologies and the ability to utilize various statistical methodologies. Provides recommendations for business actions based on the conclusions drawn from analysis in a way that is meaningful to the business partner.

Project Management - Capable of effectively managing complex projects with little to no guidance.

Supply Chain Knowledge - Completely understands the role of each function in the Supply Chain and how their Key Performance Indicators support the needs of end customers. Has been a leader in a number of Supply Chain functions and led cross-functional teams to drive improvements in the Supply Chain.

Fosters Open Communication - Demonstrated ability to improve and expand the application of fostering open communication at Cummins. Establishes creative ways to obtain input from others.

Shows outstanding active listening skills that draw out difficult or contentious information. Chooses the appropriate communication vehicle for the situation. Utilizes structured approach and appropriate tools when coaching and developing others. Provides relevant assignments to direct reports that address individual development needs.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

B.S or BA in applicable field, MBA preferred

Experience:

Significant level of relevant work experience required.

Languages;

Good command of Japanese and English

Compensation. Base salary commensurate with experience plus Variable bonus.
