Eaton Corporation Software Engineering Manager in Mississauga, Ontario

Primary Function:

The Manager of Software Engineering for Lighting Systems will be responsible for setting and executing the teams software development and sustenance activities aligned with the short and long term business and technology Connected Building Lighting Internet of Things strategy. This will include on-time delivery of software releases from the Mississauga, Canada development center as well as leveraging broader resources at Eaton Software Center of Excellence and third party organizations. This leader will play a critical role in ensuring Eaton delivers a high quality product, using world class software processes, rigorous system validation testing, with clear documentation of designs, users guides, training material and work practices on a variety of media in one of Eaton’s fastest growing business segments.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and direct multiple projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the development, integration and release activities.

  • Lead, mentor and build a team of software, DevOps and test engineers in an agile environment.

  • Maintain a best-in-class engineering team based upon teamwork, innovation, training and dedication to quality.

  • Work closely with the other engineering and product leadership teams to develop, maintain and release enterprise software for connected lighting systems.

  • Participate in product planning, design and review meetings.

  • Monitor the activities of the software engineering, DevOps and team to remove any roadblocks and ensure timely completion of all work tasks.

  • Lead all release and sustenance activities for software development including after-sales support.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

· University degree in engineering discipline from an accredited institution.

· Minimum 10 years of experience in engineering or software development

· Minimum 3 years of experience in software engineering management or project management

· Minimum 5 years of experience with hands-on software development; including requirements analysis, design, coding, debugging and test

· Minimum 1 year experience leading front end web applications and mobile app development using HTML5, Javascript, Javascript frameworks, etc.

· Minimum 1 year experience leading application development with Java, C++, or C#.

· Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.

· No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates residing within 80 kilometres of Mississauga, ON, Canada facility will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Scrum Master Certification

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in controls or process automation industry

  • Ability to work independently and to follow directions.
