The Technical Trainer is responsible for teaching pharmacy staff how to use McKesson pharmacy software and point of sale products. Trainers primarily provide training and go-live support at customer locations but may also deliver instructor-led, web-based classes. In all cases, the trainer must be able to adapt their approach to accommodate the learning style of pharmacy staff members. Trainers may also be asked to assist customers with hardware setup and troubleshoot hardware issues while at customer locations.
Trainers may be tasked with creating new and modifying existing training classes and associated materials. Ability to quickly learn new software, keep informed of software updates, and develop quality training programs is key to success in this role.
Trainers will communicate customer status to management and are responsible for assessing staff comfort level prior to leaving the customer location to determine if additional assistance is required.
Trainers can expect to travel 75% to 100% of the time and may occasionally be asked to work weekends or holidays, depending on customer needs.
Entry level experience in technical training, field sales, product support, and/or consulting experience.
1-3 years experience in technical training, computer hardware setup, field sales, product support, and/or consulting.
1-2 years experience as a pharmacy technician.
Must have experience preparing for and delivering training to adult audiences.
Must have demonstrated writing skills.
Comfortable with high percentage travel requirements.
Additional Knowledge & Skills
Ability to deliver virtual and/or on-site trainings
Excellent written and oral communication skills; speaks clearly and persuasively.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to lead customers to an acceptance of change in software and process.
Strong organizational, planning, project management, problem resolution, communication, presentation, facilitation, and influencing skills.
Demonstrated ability to respond effectively to multiple conflicting priorities, continuously prioritize deliverables, and to respond in a dynamic work environment.
Preferred experience at customer locations for training or Implementation support.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Dependable, enthusiastic, self-starting, and self-motivated.
Preferred experience working with internal/external customers to recognize issues, document them and escalate as appropriate.
Ability to QA training materials.
Experience creating new or updating existing learning modules based on release notes, product requirements and subject matter expert review sessions.
Instructional Design experience a plus.
Foreign language fluency a plus.
BA or BS degree or equivalent experience
Pharmacy Technician certification preferred.
