Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Environmental Engineer with strong leadership skills for immediate employment in the Morrisville, NC office. They will work collaboratively in a team environment with mentors and peers to develop solutions to environmental challenges. The successful candidate will interface directly with clients and lead teams in the field and office to accomplish projects related to water, wastewater, and stormwater and environmental compliance. Field work will include asset inventories and condition assessments of water, wastewater, and stormwater system assets, utility mapping, data collection and interviews, and inventory and inspection of stormwater BMPs. Office work will include regulatory research, data analysis, spreadsheet development and calculations, schedule development, reporting writing, developing presentation materials, and presenting results in oral presentations. This position will require overnight travel for periods of up to two weeks at a time while conducting field data collection efforts. Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required. Some clients require random drug screening.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related curriculum

  • 5+ years of experience

  • Must have passed the Engineering Fundamentals exam

  • Must be able to manage complex tasks and lead teams in the field and office environment

  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Google Maps, and other common business software and web-based applications

  • Must be able to conduct field work, tolerate variable environmental conditions, walk on uneven surfaces, and lift and carry at least 50 pounds

  • Must be able to travel on business periodically for periods of up to two weeks

  • Must be able to interface comfortably with clients, lead client meetings, and conduct oral presentations

  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Must be able to work collaboratively in teams and independently when necessary

  • Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to drive rental vehicles on behalf of the company

Preferred Qualifications

  • NC Professional Engineering license or the ability to obtain a NC PE within one year

  • Experience working on military installations

  • Staff management experience

  • Experience developing technical and price proposals

  • Experience conducting field inventories of water, wastewater, and stormwater system assets

  • Experience collecting location data using mapping grade GPS and post processing data

  • Experience with ESRI suite of GIS software products including ArcMap, ArcCatalog, and ArcToolbox
