Job Description

Coordinates a variety of decontamination, sterilization, packaging, inventory and distribution tasks according to established procedures and techniques. Ensures all requisitions have been filled accurately and completely.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Coordinates instrument processing, preparation and packaging, sterilization, and quality insurance activities.

  • Assists in prioritizing and assigning work based on workflow fluctuations.Participates in orientation and ongoing training of sterile processing staff.

  • Monitors and ensures case carts and related supplies are distributed to clinical areas within the hospital.

  • Serves as a liaison between Central Services and customer departments to coordinate activities and resolving issues, as needed.

  • Monitors inventory and facilitates ordering of stock/non-stock supplies.

  • Adheres to department policies and procedures and related regulatory standards in the performance of duties.

  • Documents and maintains records of daily activities according to department policies and procedures.

  • Participates in department quality control programs and in-service training, as required.

  • Performs related duties, as required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.

  • Sterile processing certification (CRCST or CSPD), required.

  • Minimum of two (2) years progressively responsible sterile processing experience, required.

  • Ability to lift/carry 25 pounds, required. Manual dexterity, ability to stand, bend, lift and/or reach for extended periods of time, required.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing) and follow oral and/or written instructions, required.
