The Registered Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act. Utilizes therapeutic communication in daily practice. Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment. Identifies nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient. Plans individualized and holistic patient care. Participates in performance improvement activities to assure continuous quality improvement. Provides care and coordinates participation that fosters the goals of the hospital’s mission statement.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing. BSN Preferred Current licensure with the Tennessee State Board of Nursing Some positions may require experience

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS: Current Licensure with the TN State Board of Nursing Current BLS (All RNs) Current ACLS (All CCU, ER, Cath Lab, Special Procedures, PACU, House Supervisors, Float, Imaging, Endoscopy, EKG EEG) Current PALS (ER, House Supervisors, Float, PACU)

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS: * Must follow all Policies and Procedures. * Performs job with patient/family/physician satisfaction in mind and will work to get the facility in the top 95% percentile scores of the nation. * Follows all regulatory policies such as CMS, TJC, Core Measures, and state regulations. * Demonstrates the ability to perform specific competencies as listed on the competency validation checklist(s). * Successful completion of required pharmacology test(s). * Demonstrates population specific knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients. * Ensures the privacy of our patient and confidentiality of theirProtectedHealthInformation(PHI). * Meets mutually-agreed upon performance goals/objectives established annually as listed on the Performance Management Plan. * Utilizes nursing process for individual care to meet needs of patients. * Demonstrates ability to perform technical skills and procedures. * Documents all patient care and patients response to care. * Demonstrates critical thinking skills and organizational skills. * Responds appropriately to emergency or crisis situations. * Promotes customer service initiatives, Core Measure initiatives, and HCAHPS initiatives * Assists coworkers to meet patient needs. * Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care or the services delivered. * Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues. * Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient’s care which results in patient harm. * Attends inservice presentations, and completes mandatory education, including, but not limited to, infection control, patient safety, quality improvement, MSDS and OSHA standards. * Works with performance improvement committee to insure and improve patient safety. * Understands and incorporates core measure criteria for all core measure patients.
