Transdev Transportation Planner l in New Orleans, Louisiana

Overview:

The Planning Department at the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority is seeking a Transportation Planner l. This individual will play a pivotal role on the team by providing technical assistance and support for high profile projects. In addition, this individual will collaborate with other departments in the organization in order to identify solutions to internal and external challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance and support for assigned projects and studies.

  • Manage, analyze, and communicate data and information

  • Identify challenges and solutions based on available resources

  • Prepare documents and reports for internal and external purposes

  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education, Licensing, and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or greater in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Engineering or education equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with coursework in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, or a combination of experience and training to the equivalent.

  • AICP and/or PE preferred.

Experience Required:

  • A minimum of two years of experience in transit or urban planning, or related fields.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Ability to work independently without supervision.

  • Ability to interact effectively with management, staff, and others outside the agency.

  • Knowledge of software applications for producing reports.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Strong technical writing skills

  • Strong verbal communication skills, including presentation, facilitation, and listening skills

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Must submit to drug testing, physical examination, and a criminal background check

Physical Requirements:

  • 100% of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well ventilated facilities

  • Work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer.

  • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
