Bank of America Analyst/ Associate - XVA Trader in New York, New York

Job Description:


The XVA trading desk is part of the Counterparty Portfolio Management (CPM) line of business focused on managing counterparty credit risk (CVA), funding risk (FVA) and capital risk (KVA) in the Bank’s derivatives portfolio. XVA traders are engaged in a broad range of functions including pricing, hedging, risk analysis and optimization across various derivative products including rates, FX, commodities, credit and equities. The XVA desk plays a pivotal role in the daily market making process for OTC derivatives, and plays a lead role within the Bank in the interpretation and quantification of industry changes to derivatives pricing, whether driven by market and/or regulatory forces. The role would primarily focus on KVA.


The candidate MUST be able to thrive in a fast-paced and intense environment. He or she will work alongside senior members of the XVA desk on a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Facilitate implementation of regulatory capital requirements from a business strategy perspective, with specific focus on FRTB

  • Demonstrates strong ability to take complex processes and break them down into concrete steps

  • Price and analyze credit, funding and capital requirements on derivatives transactions

  • Perform detailed reviews of counterparty portfolios, including analyzing trade structures and documentation

  • Demonstrate understanding of risk drivers and develop methodologies to help mitigate them

  • Engage in ad-hoc projects on a regular basis

  • Closely follow and understand market activity and relevant regulatory developments

  • Interact with other lines of business within Global Markets and support areas (including Finance, Middle Office, Risk, Technology, Quants, Legal, etc.)

  • Demonstrate strong work ethic and business judgment Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of derivatives and fixed income markets desired

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills

  • Strong writing and spreadsheet skills

  • Must be a self starter who is resourceful

  • Must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal

  • Must have strong attention to detail

  • Must work well in a collaborative team environment

  • Strategic and creative thinking required

  • Ability to learn quickly and take on new responsibilities

  • Must be able to multi task and work well under pressure/deadlines
