Job Description:

Attorney- Fixed Income

Attorney for a large municipal markets group which includes origination bankers, underwriting desk and sales and trading personnel

Ongoing advice in connection with the day-to-day operations of the department on a wide variety of legal issues. Emphasis on municipal underwriting and various regulations (e.g. SEC, MSRB, Volcker) impacting the business

Document review includes bond purchase agreements, response to request for proposals made by municipal entities, engagement letters, confidentiality agreements and other legal documents

Active participation on various control committees

Supervision of the work of Underwriters Counsel

Enterprise Description:

Responsible for the analysis of complex legal issues and implications on matters of significant impact to GBAM's Fixed Income businesses. Provides advice on new or existing products or services. Coordinates the work of outside legal counsel on related projects. Supervises activities of other legal department staff, including other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff. Individuals in this position typically have eight or more years of experience since admission to the Bar. May manage others.

Required Skills:

At least four years of relevant legal experience

Experience with securities and corporate legal matters.

Working knowledge of SEC regulations and debt offerings (corporate or municipal) is required.

Candidate must be a highly motivated self-starter who is very adept at problem-solving.

Candidate must have strong leadership skills and excellent writing, drafting and presentation skills.

Candidate must have effective negotiating and excellent interpersonal skills.

Law firm experience is required.

Candidate must have a JD degree and be admitted to at least one state bar (active/good standing)

Desired Skills:

Knowledge of MSRB (Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board) rules is a plus (but not required).

Knowledge of Volcker and the SECs Municipal Advisor Registration rules is a plus (but not required).

Familiarity with broker regulation and other fixed income products is a plus (but not required).
