Job Description:

Responsible for credit analysis and investigation of existing and prospective clients and counter parts under direction of senior team members. Requires a full understanding of the organization's credit policies and existing credit arrangements. Requires continued knowledge development of specifics related to the business unit or product being supported, including unique credit arrangements. Experience level typically ranges from two to eight years.

The Credit Officer role requires a comprehensive skill set to effectively execute broad credit management responsibilities within GCIB US/CAN Wholesale Credit. Primary account responsibility for a complex portfolio of Banks/ Broker Dealers and Central Clearing Counterparties covering both Loans and Derivatives (FX, Interest rate swaps, Futures, Credit Default swaps etc)

Primary responsibilities include:

Structure complex transactions and negotiate complex loans / derivatives and document appropriately to mitigate risks. Independently develop high quality credit analysis with a focus on business rationale, key risks, sources of repayment, projections and returns & profitability. Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the industry and an assigned portfolio of clients to assess risk solutions that balance risk and return. Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Global Markets, Treasury Management and various other internal teams involved in credit functions across the globe. Independently assess, conduct due diligence and make justifiable credit recommendations. Establish appropriate internal risk ratings for clients and implement accurate adjustments throughout the clients’ credit life cycle. Participate in strategic projects to support business goals. Ensure effective and consistent compliance to established credit and control procedures. Responsible for driving responsible loan growth, approving derivative lines, portfolio asset quality and speed to market.

Our Line of Business:

Wholesale Credit (WC) is part of the Global Banking & Markets organization at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, responsible for originating and underwriting debt financing solutions and Derivative Lines. As a core member of the client team, WC also partners with groups across GBAM including Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Syndicated Finance, Risk Management, Treasury Management and Global Markets to drive revenue growth while maintaining appropriate risk disciplines specific to GBAM’s corporate credit portfolio.

Required Skills:

  • 6-7 years banking/credit experience

  • Must have ability to manage complex transactions, possess strong credit skills and transaction experience, and demonstrate the ability to work with senior officers, business partners, and clients.

  • Good Understanding of Derivatives and related ISDA documentation.

-Able to soundly manage the portfolio and justify rationale for recommended transactions and capability to exercise credit authority within delegated authority.
