Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Engineering Director for employment in the New York, NY office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides engineering technical and management leadership at a Senior level for Programs / Project works of complex scope and high dollar volume

  • Responsible for authoritative decision making regarding program objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects

  • Develops standards and guides for diverse engineering activities

  • Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with senior level engineering staff internally and serve as senior technical manager with our client(s)

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor & Master's Degree in engineering

  • 20+ years of experience in municipal, civil engineering consulting, including 15+ years in a management role

  • License and/or registration of professional engineer required

  • Proven track record of successful management of large, multi-disciplinary wastewater & water projects

  • Background specific to design and construction of wastewater projects and client/consultant relations experience

  • Deep knowledge of water & wastewater treatment and conveyance

  • Will have demonstrated creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual engineering problems

  • Building and developing teams to win and deliver

  • Strong communication skills, previous experience leading interdisciplinary teams on large, complex projects and an interest in mentoring team members

  • Provide strong and confident leadership in Client relationship development on technical engineering management

  • Skilled in the negotiation of critical issues

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • 25+ years of experience

  • Deep knowledge of wastewater treatment

  • Member of professional or technical society
