Job Description

The Office of the Global General Counsel (Global OGC) serves the Network Leadership and the Global Network of Firms (the Network), providing dedicated legal support in the following areas: Litigation and Regulatory Matters, Counselling, Corporate/Commercial matters, Technology, IP and Data Protection.

Position/Program Requirements

Minimum Year(s) of Experience: 10

Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or GED

Degree Preferred: Juris Doctorate

Certification(s) Preferred: IAPP industry certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, or CIPT.

Knowledge Preferred:

Demonstrates thought leader-level knowledge with, and/or a proven record of success directing efforts,

in the following areas:

  • Legal matters related to intellectual property and technology transactions;

  • Network Regulations, Standards and Policies;

  • Legal and regulatory regimes, norms and practices related to intellectual property and technology transactions;

  • Global and member firms’ Codes of Conduct;

  • Network structure and operations;

  • Class Action Defense;

  • Complex securities;

  • Commercial litigation;

  • Professional malpractice defense;

  • Regulatory enforcment defense;

  • White collar criminal defense;

  • Arbitration and mediation;

  • Internal investigations;

  • Tehcnology, technology trends and associated data protection implications; and,

  • European Union data privacy and protection regulations.

Skills Preferred:

Demonstrates thought leader-level abilities with, and/or a proven record of success directing efforts in the following areas:

  • Providing ongoing legal advice to business leaders, project teams, and procurement teams on legal related matters concerning global applications intended for internal and external deployment, as well as the establishment and expansion of IT Services Co.;

  • Handling highly complex issues involving significant risk and requiring the application of seasoned judgment;

  • Managing multiple cases, matters, projects and/or terms of internal and/or external resources;

  • Developing policies and guidance related to the deployment of global applications;

  • Dealing with colleagues in foreign jurisdictions;

  • Drafting complex cross-territory agreements as well as policies and procedures;

  • Providing legal assistance and guidance in responding to territories regarding the use of global applications;

  • Working with diverse business cultures and often competing perspectives;

  • Identifying and analyzing complex legal/regulatory/business issues and providing appropriate legal advice regarding applicable legal and professional standards often on a time-sensitive basis;

  • Negotiating with different parties with respect to legal issues;

  • Advising and interacting at the senior leadership level;

  • Building consensus, even for difficult or unpopular courses of action, necessitated by legal or regulatory requirements; and,

  • Managing outside counsel expense to obtain optimal outcomes.
