Bank of America Senior Engineer - Network Technologies in New York, New York
Directs, manages, plans and administers the operational and administrative activities of the Systems Engineering section. Supports multiple systems through maintenance, modification, problem resolution, etc. to support ongoing delivery of services and/or operations. Manages multiple applications/development projects, or single major complex initiatives if a small area of the development function. Coordinates resources across various applications, operations or projects. Responsible for staffing, performance management and compensation decision-making. Manages budget, monitors progress and adjusts resources and priorities accordingly. Provides input on policy issues. Typically 7-10 years of experience in managing and directing multi-project development teams.
Individual will be a senior engineer for a large-scale banking technology installation. This individual will be responsible for an end-to-end understanding of the architecture & design of the systems assigned to their portfolio, with a very large focus on the networking technologies used by the applications. The candidate will also be focusing on how to improve system reliability, monitoring, network integration. The candidate will also guide the response to critical issues, including root cause analysis as well as mitigate future risks to the environment. Serves as a fully seasoned/proficient technical resource; routine accountability is for technical knowledge and capabilities as a team member or as an individual contributor. Works under minimal supervision. Typically 7-10 years of systems experience with a college degree in a technical specialty (computer science, engineering, etc.).
• Experience with modern large scale, multi-tiered applications
• Understanding of key application performance and resiliency design principles
• Significant experience with network technologies, specifically Cisco switches/routers
• Strong experience with TCP/IP network technologies
• Ability to capture and interpret packet data
• Good understanding of Web technologies such as webservers and app servers
• Experience with modern monitoring methods and tools, such as Splunk
• F5 Load-Balancers
• Organizational skills
• Project management skills
