Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Mechanical Engineer for immediate employment for the New York City office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Establishes and maintains quality and accuracy standards

  • Works cooperatively with other managers and employees to achieve company's mission

  • Assist with organizing the mechanical discipline efforts

  • Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to all projects assigned

  • Stays current on codes and technologies appropriate to the HVAC discipline

  • Ensures conformance with standards, established design practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • 5+ years of consulting engineering experience, including at least 2 years of project management experience

  • Relevant experience in HVAC design and the preparation of construction documents (Commercial, healthcare, higher education or research labs)

  • Registered Professional Engineer in New York or ability to obtain by reciprocity

  • Competent in all conventional aspects of HVAC engineering and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard Mechanical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria

  • Knowledge of and experience with high performance and sustainable building practices

  • Demonstrates creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving problems

  • Strong technical knowledge and ability to serve in the role as a Project Manager responsible for a multi-disciplinary team in the development of comprehensive, coordinated construction documents for small to large diverse and complex projects

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have the ability to travel regionally 15%-20% of the time

  • Revit experience

  • Federal projects experience

  • LEED accredited
