Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Project Architect for immediate employment for the New York City office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

Practice Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the project manual and specifications and standards for Corporate Workplace and implement as we grow our corporate accounts

  • Strong mentoring skills with Interior Design project team staff to ensure the highest quality of documents is being developed across the Workplace platform

  • Responsible for code compliancy as it relates to ADA and Life Safety in relation to planning and documentation. Mentor and train staff on code compliancy

  • Assist in development of project scopes, schedules, manpower allocations and budgets, coordinating with Project Managers, senior staff, and other department leads

  • Oversight of technical application of design vision for all projects and ensuring that constructability methods and technologies are explored and implemented

  • Motivate and mentor junior staff ensuring their professional and technical development

  • Understand design and technical criteria compliant with all applicable codes and standards

  • Monitor project schedules and tasks while enforcing office standards and budgeting hours per fee contracts

Project Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple aspects of client, team and project coordination, including full documentation coordination

  • Manage communication between project team, clients, vendors, contractors, consultants and in-house leadership

  • Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions to resolve complex technical and design challenges

  • During the construction process on projects, oversight on the following with staff members:

  • Prepare reports and specifications

  • Conduct on-site observations and document site reviews

  • Process submittals, RFIs, substitution requests, etc. during construction

  • Interface with building and permitting officials during the permitting and construction phases of the project as required with the Technical Leaders

  • Responsible for technical implementations of design concepts during construction documents, specifications, building, & construction administration

  • Provide coordination of all engineering discipline’s & outside consultants

  • Maintain and monitor project profitability along with PM

Supervision/Management Responsibilities:

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; participating in professional societies

  • Support Corporate Workplace leadership and Human Resource in conducting new employee interviews, hiring and performance reviews

Business Development Responsibilities:

  • Support Corporate Workplace leadership in new business development efforts

  • Maintain client relationships and assist in the development of new revenues through continuing services

  • Represents the Interiors group on professional organization boards or committees as appropriate

  • Active member in a professional trade organization

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Interior Design/Architecture

  • 7+ years of relevant experience as a project architect with strong skills and knowledge in interior architecture, contract furniture and project management/administration

  • Licensed Architect

  • Experience in healthcare and labs

  • Large scale (150,000+ sq feet) corporate workplace market interior design experience in NY Metro region

  • Knowledge of project and delivery process including project management, staff planning & budgeting

  • Expertise in building construction, building codes, ADA, LEED and other jurisdictional requirements

  • Highly organized with an attention to detail

  • Excellent communication and writing skills

  • Experience with Revit (mandatory), AutoCAD (mandatory), Bluebeam Revu, SketchUp, 3DMax, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), and MS Office

  • Ability to define and manage BIM execution plan

Preferred Qualifications

  • LEED Accreditation & experience a plus
