Job Description:

The Business Development Manager is responsible for marketing, communications and client event management and successful implementation and execution of internal projects across the firm. Incumbents drive cross LOB client events to maximize impact with clients, and coordinate and initiate, training and development of associates across the firm.

Job Specific Description:

The Technology Partnership Development team provides exposure internally to technology, strategy, and leadership to all parts of Bank of America. Externally we lead Bank of America’s work with top venture capital firms and enterprise focused start-ups. The role is relationship focused and is largely an in-person job spending time with clients, senior Bank of America leadership, CEOs/founders, and top VC firms. The team is team is seeking an experienced individual to lead the following activities:

  • Emerging technology evaluation . Lead engagement with emerging technology companies and the venture capital community sharing our macro views on technology, updates on portfolio companies, and learning about new companies. Partner internally with business & technology groups and understand their strategies and goals. Evaluate whether external solutions meet our needs; and, where appropriate, lead these companies’ engagement process with business and technology executives. Focus areas of this role could include information security, software, or capital markets technology.

  • Business development. Leverage GT&O thought leadership with key front office partners with the goal of helping drive Firm revenue. Significant engagement with Global Corporate and Investment Banking and its clients; Equity Research, Sales & Trading and its clients; and other front office business partners. This client-facing role requires strong communication skills, both written and oral, and a keen understanding of the business needs and technology strategies in GT&O and across the Firm.

  • Strategic partnership development. Engage with strategic partners to optimize our vendor spending, relationship capital, and industry leadership. This role requires organizing, structuring and leading executive briefings with vendors, practitioners, and partners; leading follow-up activities; and identifying areas and opportunities reduce GT&O costs, reduce risk, and increase business-enabling technology capabilities.

Specific job activities would include:

  • Prepare briefing materials on vendor relationships and technology strategies for CIOs, CTOs, Head of Tech & Ops, and Firm Management

  • Engage with corporate and investment banking teams on vendor information exchange

  • Relationship responsibility for leading emerging vendors to executives in GT&O and LOBs

  • Lead and speak at our annual Technology Innovation Summit participate in equity events.

  • Develop enterprise-wide views of our strategic vendor relationships (public & private) for CTOs/CIOs and above.

  • Participate in and find internal experts for market overview calls with BAML institutional clients; coordinated with Equity Sales team.

  • Interact with all managerial levels across the Firm to understand our interaction and the business value of product or service with a vendor on behalf of partners in the bank.

Required Skills / Experience:

  • Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills

  • Ability to navigate the technology evaluation and sourcing processes across the bank

  • Knowledge of enterprise IT technologies, processes, and requirements

  • Functional knowledge of key focus areas, including but not limited to infrastructure, application development, analytics, security, and/or mobile

  • Understanding of capital markets activities related investment banking, corporate banking, and/or institutional equities

  • Extensive external network across financial services, VCs, and private and public technology companies

Desired Skills / Experience:

  • 10 plus years relevant experience across IT, banking, or related functions

  • BA/BS or MS degree

  • Demonstrable strong communication and influencing skills
