The Healthcare Research Editor-Writer researches, writes, and edits technical materials such as scientific or technical research reports, government or commercial proposals, and healthcare journal manuscripts.The editor-writer supports multiple researchers and projects across the business.Responsibilities:

  • Perform substantive and technical editing of documents written by Truven Health researchers, consultants, and contractors

  • Craft crisp, targeted, strategically driven, engaging, and accurate copy for various audiences and on various healthcare topics

  • Adhere to corporate and client research standards to ensure data consistency and compliant documents

  • Draft manuscripts, literature reviews, reports, and sections of proposals with support from literature, an outline, or results from statistical analyses

  • Apply style and formatting guidelines (e.g., Government Printing Office Style Manual, Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association) as appropriate for the document

  • Use available research tools effectively (e.g., PubMed)

  • Edit and format complex tables and figures

  • Translate complex technical and scientific concepts into plain English

  • Ensure client satisfaction by anticipating client needs and meeting deliverable deadlines

*The Healthcare Research Editor/Writer will work remotely from a home office location.

  • Five or more years of experience in editing and writing complex reports and research publications

  • A keen eye for detail

  • Strong editing, writing, analytic, and time-management skills

  • Ability to convey complex, technical information to wide range of audiences

  • Ability to think strategically about communication issues

  • Understanding of policy issues and research methods

  • Knowledge of various publication style guides

  • Ability to use advanced functions to format Microsoft® Word documents

  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
