Since its inception, the Care Management Institute (CMI) has supported Kaiser Permanente in setting priorities for population care and transforming its health care culture. CMI partners with clinical and operational experts, leaders and members in all seven KP regions to serve as a gathering point for best practices, coordinated learning, and the development of new clinical care models. As a learning organization, we develop a portfolio of care management competencies and programs in a core set of priority areas. These evidence-based approaches to superior clinical performance provide KP with the necessary resources and capabilities to ensure delivery of high quality patient-centered care.
Care Management Institute (CMI) Overview Kaiser Permanente began a national Mental Health and Wellness program in 2010 with the goal to improve mental health outcomes by enhancing detection and treatment using member-centered and evidence-based approaches. The CMI Mental Health and Wellness team works to expand the breadth and depth of the initiative by identifying new partnerships and leveraging existing collaborations across a set of common organizational goals. Going forward, the work will continue to build on specific strategic projects that lead to a sustainable, measurable, population-based approach to Mental Health and Wellness.
Intern Project Description: The CMI Integrated Behavioral Health Intern-s focus areas will include: 1. Working with Kaiser regions to better understand the social non-medical needs of members with serious and persistent mental illness and develop, test, and deploy strategies to better meet the needs of this population. 2. Working with regions on Quality Improvement Initiatives including but not limited to: depression, substance use disorders, evidence-based psychotherapy, stigma reduction, feedback-informed care, member voice, and technology solutions. 3. Support interregional quality improvement discussions on how to further implement and evaluate effectiveness of MHW programs. 4. Other projects as needed to align with the intern-s areas of interest or other business needs. Desired Skillset: - Background in clinical psychology, epidemiology, social work, health services research or policy analysis. - Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary work groups. - Capacity to develop meaningful documents, reports and oral presentations that communicate key messages succinctly. (Experience with graphic and web design highly preferred.) - Ability to work effectively with colleagues at the national and regional level. - Strong time management skills with ability to prioritize. - Ability to work autonomously and in teams. - Ability to work on specific deliverables within a specific time frame with minimal supervision. *Internship scheduled for 6 months with possibility of extension.
Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: Experience - N/A. Education - Pursuing a graduate degree or have completed a graduate program from an accredited university within the last year. - Bachelor's degree required. License, Certification, Registration - N/A.
Additional Requirements: - Aptitude to perform data and process analytics and formulating solutions. - Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications: - 3.0 GPA or above - Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills - Proven ability to build effective working relationships as well as strong interpersonal skills. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to learn quickly and experience producing high quality work in short periods of time.
