Kaiser Permanente Communications Manager in Oakland, California
The IT communications manager for Care Delivery Technology Services (CDTS) is responsible for the full range of professional communications services, including executive communications, thought-partnership, and the development of communications strategies and programs in collaboration with the client leadership teams, IT Communications and other key members of the IT organization. The manager is responsible for creating, writing, managing and delivering communications, and developing communications capabilities in support of communication strategies and business objectives for CDTS.
The manager is also expected to identify stakeholder groups and incorporate stakeholder management into communications strategies, and uphold standards for how the Kaiser Permanente brand is represented in communications.
Essential Functions Responsibilities include but may not be limited to: * Strategize with client leadership to identify communication priorities, develop communication strategies and tactical communications plans, research and analyze information and stakeholder audiences, write announcements and develop other communication materials, prepare presentations, that support the CDTS overall communications program and contribute to its success. * Create consistent and compelling positioning, messaging, and tactics for clients that connect the organizations- work and relevance with IT strategy and that are consistent with the Kaiser Permanente brand. * Proactively identify communications issues and capability gaps within assigned clients, and as priorities and assignments develop with other as appropriate; recommend and implement solutions to improve the flow and impact of communications within the groups. * Provide executive coaching and communications consulting as well as coordination of internal and external speaking opportunities for senior leaders. * Drive communications projects in a way that strengthens internal relationships, reflects Kaiser Permanente's core values and desired behaviors, and reflects best practices of business communications.
Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: Experience - Minimum ten (10) years of experience in corporate communications environment, including two (2) years of supervisory and/or major project leadership experience. - Recent experience in planning and implementing complex internal communications plans and projects for a large, complex organization, with track record of increasing responsibility. Education - Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, public relations, business administration or related field.
Preferred Qualifications: * A minimum ofseven years of experience in corporate communications environment, including intensive project communications, event management, and content development. * Demonstrated excellence in directly consulting with senior executives in large organizations, recommending solutions and influencing their approach to communications, while nurturing a productive partnership. * Experience in change leadership, employee engagement, crisis communications, and issues management. * Recent experience in planning and implementing stakeholder engagement plans and internal communications campaigns for a large, complex organization. * Demonstrated professional-level writing and editing skills for Web and traditional media. * Excellent presentation, presentation development and PowerPoint skills. * Superior collaboration skills for working in a complex, non-hierarchicalorganizational structure. * Strong communication and planning skills, detail oriented, well organized, problem solving/analytical, self-directed, team focused, and results oriented. * Demonstrated ability to lead others through influence and collaboration. * Master's degree in business, communications or other relevant field. * Information technology or health care industry experience. * Proven experience with organizational change, corporate reputation management, internal brand reinforcement, and stakeholder engagement. * Professionalism that is consistent with Kaiser Permanente's core values and desired behaviors.
