Job Summary

The Transportation Division of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Transit/Rail Senior Project Manager for immediate employment in the Oakland , CA office. The individual will be responsible in providing leadership and strategic guidance to the transit rail sub-business line. This position will require frequent interaction and collaboration with counterparts locally and in other regions to pursue, win, and successfully manage and execute work for AECOM.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Participate and/or manage all aspects of project development

  • Participate and/or lead business development activities including: outreach to existing and new AECOM clients, development of sales strategies, securing appropriate teaming partners, preparation of proposals, participation as key staff in presentations/interviews, negotiation of work scopes and budgets and completing client contract negotiations

  • Serves as a Project Manager, Deputy Project Manager or Project Engineer on AECOM projects. Typical responsibilities include development of project work plans, establishing and performing work within approved project budgets and schedule, directing work of project teams, supervising the preparation of deliverables and frequent interaction with AECOM clients and other project stakeholders. of Plans, directs, and supervises operations for a single large, complex project or several moderately sized projects

  • Serves as a mentor to assist in the professional development of AECOM staff

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction/Project Management or related field

  • 10+ years of experience in managing transit design and construction projects

  • Ability to understand and interpret civil, electrical, and mechanical drawings

  • Experience in managing railroad work scope, budgets and schedules

  • Strong technical and project coordination skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Knowledge of railroad operations

  • Knowledge of Project Management scheduling and estimating

  • Knowledge of railroad engineering specifications and standards

  • Knowledge of construction when working in proximity to railroad operations

  • Proficient in the use of personal computer and office software, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree or experience working with a Northern California County Transportation Agency

  • 20+ years' experience preferred

  • Professional Engineer license (PE)

  • Knowledge of large commuter rail organization(s) and operations
