Job Summary

The Business Support Services Director is a senior advisor on business/contract-related items and oversees multiple business functions for the task order.

Principal Accountabilities (Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)

  • Oversee multiple business functions including, but not limited to, business administration and compliance, contracts, document control, finance, information technology (IT), project controls, sourcing, and supplier management, ensuring compliance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and fulfillment of contract requirements

  • Advise leadership for effective decision-making regarding business/contract-related performance, issues, and optimal approaches to accomplish company and customer objectives

  • Oversee financial status of the contract and use of its resources, ensuring effective budget development and control systems that provide high quality analysis and reporting of performance against budget and objectives

  • Direct the development/update of policies and standard operating procedures and oversee internal reviews to ensure adherence to standards, cost efficient and qualified staffing, proper use of payroll time and labor system, security and operability of document management systems, and use of best practices in all business services departments

  • Oversee development of accurate, well-supported cost proposals to address each Request for Proposal (RFP)

  • Provide leadership, training, and development to instill a culture of continuous improvement and high performance in areas of responsibility

  • Perform other duties as assigned

    Knowledge & Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of managerial, administrative, government accounting, and contracts procedures

  • Thorough knowledge of the FAR, Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation (DFAR), government services contracting, Service Contract Act, and Truth in Negotiations Act

  • Knowledge of program management operations

  • Skill in use of business application software such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project; PeopleSoft; CostPoint, etc.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively lead cross-functional teams

    Experience & Education

  • Minimum twelve (12) years of experience in a government contracts environment with at least five (5) years in management of a large scale, services support program and a combination of contracts, subcontracts, document control, project controls, and/or finance work

  • Prefer overseas experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or associated discipline; may substitute two (2) additional years of experience in related field for each year of college

  • Prefer master’s degree in business or associated discipline

    Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable

  • Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions

  • Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
