Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Electrical Engineer for immediate employment for the Orange, CA office. The Senior Electrical Engineer will develop/design solutions for a variety of technical problems of moderate to extreme scope and complexity across the electrical engineering discipline.

The applicant must clearly illustrate a strong understanding of distribution solutions, core and shell development, as well as aesthetic lighting considerations for built spaces. The applicant will need to be able to quickly develop and vet potential solutions at the SD level, with an eye to growing it through the end of the construction document phase, working with the changes inevitable in our industry. The applicant shall have an understanding of typical codes such as the NEC with local amendments. Familiarity with UFC, Design Build delivery / other alternate delivery methods, and various market sectors such as Themed Entertainment, Justice, DoD/Federal, Healthcare and/or Leisure is expected. The candidate should possess the ability to provide in house and third party reviews at a jurisdictional level. He/she must be familiar with field conditions and able to participate and/or lead facility assessment teams. Excellent communication and leadership skills are required, as this individual will be working with both internal and external clients.

The applicant will be working as part of the LA Metro+ Regional Building Engineering Team and be part of a growing LA Metro+ MEP group. The applicant will report to the Regional Electrical Design Lead located in the Orange Office. The applicant will be expected to help develop electrical scope and pricing for various projects.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

  • 5+ years of direct experience

  • Familiarity with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and other industry standards and codes

  • Experience leading electrical designers and engineers

  • Experience designing electrical power and lighting systems

  • Experience with analysis tools such as SKM and/or ETAP

  • Proficient in the use of computers for making engineering calculations, spreadsheets, and report writing

  • Familiarity with the latest version of REVIT is required

  • Familiarity with providing guidance and support for others within a department

Preferred Qualifications

  • PE License

  • Experience with Electrical load calculations, lighting design and analysis a plus

  • Experience with energy saving systems such as solar power and battery storage systems desired

  • Additional certifications such as LEED, LC, CEM, RCDD etc. are a bonus

  • Communications system design experience is a plus

  • Experience with IES energy modeling tool is desirable

  • CEM designation

  • Experience in the following markets:
