ThePatient Care Technician (PCT/CNA), under the direction of the Registered Nurse, assists in providing quality care to an assigned group of patients throughout the hospital. The PCT/CNA maintains unit equipment in good working order and maintains adequate stocking of supplies and related equipment. The PCT/CNA identifies opportunities for improvement and participates in performance improvement activities as directed.
The PCT is responsible for: meeting Joint Commission standards, complying with all state and federal regulations, complying with corporate and hospital policy and procedures, managing supplies and equipment, promoting teamwork and positive customer service.This is a highly visible role with a large degree of physician as well as patient interaction; strives to promote harmony of unit. The quality of care given in the hospital will be in keeping with the philosophy, mission, and values of the hospital and the Department of Nursing; will maintain and support the standards of nursing care and practice in order to promote and support the concept of the family unit and to meet the health care needs of patients, their families and the community.
The PCT/CNA could also act as a Patient Sitter. The Patient Sitter assists in providing safe care for an identified patient who is in need of bedside monitoring to prevent injury to self. The Patient Sitter, under the direction and supervision of the Charge Nurse or designee, will assist caregivers at the bedside based on their validated competencies. This role has a large degree of patient interaction.
EDUCATION: * A High School Diploma or equivalent is required LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: * A current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider is required * An active state of Florida Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) License, an active state of Florida Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) License, a current nursing student having successfully completed the first clinical course in the hospital setting or recent experience as a Corpsman in the military is required for this position
EXPERIENCE: * Some previous customer service experience is required * Minimum of 1 year experience as a CNA, EMT, or Corpsman is preferred
SHIFT: * 12 hour shifts - either DAY SHIFT (7A to 7P) or NIGHT SHIFT (7P to 7A) * please specify during the application process which shift (or select all if you are open to working either) you are available to work * Employee must be able to work at least 1 shift per week, must be able to work some rotating weekends, and must be able to work some rotating holidays
