Monsanto Technology Development Representative (Pennsylvania / New Jersey) in PENNSYLVANIA, United States

Seminis, a Monsanto vegetable seed division, is currently seeking a Technology Development Representative to provide technical leadership for the development and commercial growth of Seminis vegetable seed. This role directs and manages local field trials in conjunction with Sales & Marketing teams to generate features, advantages, and benefits data, and associated marketing materials. This position requires the TDR to build strong technical and commercial relationships with key influencers including academia, industry/grower groups, processors, dealers, and top customers.

Technology Development Representatives work with leading edge technology to generate and analyze data to drive product advancement recommendations. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic team and build strong technical and commercial relationships throughout the world.

Development of New Products:

  • Determine and demonstrate the value, positioning, and agronomic fit of Seminis pipeline products vs. commercial standards

  • Actively participate in protocol development and experimental design; ensure timely, high-quality data entry, analyses, and reporting

  • Contract and coordinate testing with key university programs and private cooperators

  • Ensure product stewardship according to Seminis and industry best practices, and regulatory compliance with Federal, State, and Local requirements

Growth of Commercial Products:

  • Direct and manage local trials in conjunction with Sales & Marketing teams to generate features, advantages, and benefits data, and associated marketing materials

  • Provide product and agronomic training for internal sales teams and external seed, retail, and processing partners

  • Build strong technical and commercial relationships with key influencers including academia, industry/grower groups, processors, dealers, and top customers

  • Bridge Sales and Research to ensure market-driven assessment of new products and technologies

  • Support Sales with performance inquiries that require specific agronomic and product knowledge

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Master's degree in agronomy, plant breeding, plant pathology, or closely related discipline

  • 5+ years experience in applied field research

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to perform successfully in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-based environment

  • Self-motivated and assertive with a results orientation

  • Willingness to travel extensively in-state; occasional regional and national travel

  • Federal regulations from the Department of Transportation cover this position and mandate the passing of certain pre-employment requirements, such as a background check, drug test and physical

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • PhD in agronomy, plant breeding, plant pathology, or closely-related discipline

  • Experience in the following vegetable crops: sweet corn, green beans, watermelon, peppers, tomato, cucumber, squash, etc.
