Olympus America Inc. Field Service Engineer II in Peoria, Illinois
Illinois - The Field Service Engineer II, under minimal daily supervision and successful completion of relevant training courses, will inspect, service, repair and provide expert level technical service and support on Olympus branded equipment. The incumbent will conduct routine service and sales support calls and build strong customer relationships to strengthen the Olympus brand. He/She may obtain the assistance of a more experienced engineer to solve extremely difficult or complex problems in which he/she is not yet familiar. The incumbent may, on occasion, offer assistance to employees with less experience. He/She will possess and practice good teamwork, problem solving and customer service skills. Perform new equipment installations, upgrades, post installation testing, troubleshooting and all other aspects of technical support for all endoscope, mechanical, electronic, video, computer, LANs and network products.
Provide new sales, sales demonstrations and/or trade show support.
Quote and install cabling projects that includes soldering, terminating and pulling cable.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair the entire line of medical electronic, video, computer and network products on customer premises, at Olympus repair facilities and when necessary, via telephone.
Utilize a ladder for indoor work off the ground if required.
Provide pre-site inspection, preventative maintenance and customer care support.
Escalate support issues when customer satisfaction is jeopardized and report all product non-conformance and safety concerns.
Establish and maintain open lines of communication with key internal and external customers to remain current with support, repair and on-going issues (i.e. installations, upgrades, persistent problems).
Provide pre and post sales education and training support for all endoscope, reprocessor, electronic, video, computer and network products.
Create and maintain accurate service visit records and checklists to reflect equipment support and repair activities. Documentation may include labor and travel reporting, parts consumption, problem summary text and checklist completion.
Maintain all assigned assets in a neat and organized manner, including but not limited to company vehicle, laptop computer, cell phone, repair parts and tools.
Return defective or unneeded material in a timely manner.
Ensure chemicals and tools comply with expiration dates.
Maintain education requirements through structured corporate training programs, on the job training, study of Olympus marketing materials, sales brochures and available self-study programs. Must attend/complete course for CompTIA NET+ certification within one year of hire.
Meet all assigned targets and goals set by Corporate, Regional and Field Service Managers.
Assist in the planning of Endoscopy/Surgical room video and audio cabling and other special projects as directed.
Prepare, train and mentor level 1 field service engineers as necessary.
Perform all other duties as assigned.

Associate’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Bio Medical, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university (or equivalent knowledge) is required; Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
Minimum of 3 years as a Field Service Engineer I, or equivalent experience is required.
Experience in field service, project management and or sales support is required.
Successful completion of CompTIA Net+ or similar industry recognized certification is preferred.
Proficiency in technical issue management is a plus.
Solid working knowledge of electronics, personal computer hardware, and software and LAN concepts is essential.
Strong communication skills both written and verbal are necessary.
Demonstrated decision making ability toward solving problems while working under pressure and ability to effectively communicate these solutions to coworkers and customers is highly desired.
Demonstrated project management experience with video, computer and or electronic product installations is preferred.
Ability to successfully complete technical training programs and certifications is essential.
General understanding of business policies and practices is necessary.
Demonstrated ability to timely manage multiple requests for resources from both internal and external customers is a must.
Must display knowledge of clinical applications and competitive strategies through the use of in-house literature, on the job training, marketing material, and sales brochures.
Ability to use electronic test equipment is essential.
Must be a self-starter requiring minimal supervision and possess high-degree of personal organization.
Ability to work flexible hours to include occasional short notice overtime and weekend work is necessary.
Must be able to travel via air and automobile, including overnight travel and occasional short notice travel, within 24 hours notice.
Must have Valid driver’s license.
Ability to cooperate and participate as an effective team member in creating a positive working environment is necessary.
Ability to demonstrate positive corporate citizenship is preferred.
Must ensure professional and timely communication with all internal/external customers.
Individuals must also complete annual bloodborne pathogen training, operating room protocol training and obtain Hepatitis B vaccination or complete a signed declination form.
