Job Description

The Manager, Marketing Project Management is responsible for managing the account and project management function across all traditional and digital channels and supervising the team of project managers. The Manager, Marketing Project Management is also accountable for overseeing the entire portfolio of work for the creative marketing delivery teams; the management and cultivation of all client relationships; the recommendation of strategic testing and optimization opportunities; ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget; leading critical activities associated with the annual operating plan; communicating process optimization opportunities; managing budgets and forecasts related to client work and overseeing project work conducted by external vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages the marketing project and account management function across all traditional and digital marketing channels across business units and clients; fosters a partnering and collaborative relationship with stakeholders

  • Able to plan and present clear vision of customer experience when thinking and communicating creative strategy cross-functionally and with stakeholders; Supplies consultation to clients regarding best practices across channels, media and experiences

  • Leads the internal process to solve the difficult customer challenges we are presented

  • Oversees cross-functional teams to derive new or improved execution strategies and testing opportunities demonstrating strategic thinking, creativity, and solid understanding of digital industry trends

  • Institutes and maintains cadence for strategic planning discussions with clients where lessons learned, prior campaign success metrics and post mortems are referenced to inform decisions

  • Sets standards for client service and protocol including service levels and communication processes

  • Responsible for producing critical deliverables for the annual operating plan including the creation of month by month business need to aid in driving capacity planning

  • Supervises team of project managers ensuring standards of service of consistently met, processes are uniformly followed, project budgets are maintained and deadlines are reached while providing coaching, development and on-boarding

  • Triages critical issues with projects and teams by effectively escalating challenges where appropriate, negotiating with clients, problem solving with internal teams and resolving conflict

  • Proven ability to lead, build trust and be highly credible across levels of organizations

  • Provides direction to account and project management and traffic teams regarding reporting and analysis required to communicate project status, track projects against estimates and plan, and identify areas of inefficiency

  • Elevates process inefficiencies and opportunities to optimize production and planning

  • Oversees efforts with clients prioritize work week to week based on AOP

  • Oversees estimation of project costs to be delivered by internal teams

  • Responsible for budgetary elements including tracking against the annual operating plan, producing forecasts for client demand and maintaining transparency with the client regarding financial status across the entire portfolio of work and client-base within department

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Advertising, or related field

  • 7 -10 years experience in marketing communications/digital marketing/related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 3-5 years experience managing direct reports and cross functional teams

  • 5-7 years experience managing client accounts / relationships

  • Develop and lead a team centric approach with internal team and extended teams

  • Experience in managing budgets and operating plans

  • Strong background in project management

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including presentation skills

  • Proven ability to gain consensus, influence organizational behavior and lead decision making processes

  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills to effectively and assertively navigate various personalities

  • Ability to maintain composure and perform under pressure, amid shifting priorities and when deadlines or scope are at risk

  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks with time sensitive deadlines and act with a sense of urgency; effective prioritization skills

  • Process and detail orientation

  • Experience using project and/or campaign management software such as WorkFront or similar

  • Experience in marketing or project management for the science education, research, or safety market, or industry of similar products and technology would benefit this role

  • Affinity for developing integrated marketing campaigns leveraging best practices across digital and traditional media and tactics

  • Experience in a heavily matrixed organization working cross-functionally across multiple approval levels

  • Overseas and domestic travel of no more than 5%
