Kaiser Permanente Community Benefit - Volunteer Outreach Coordinator - UNDERGRADUATE INTERN in Portland, Oregon

This is a temporary internship position not to exceed 6 months. Undergraduate level internship work may include less involved research projects and documentation; phone communication, meeting minute transcriptions; Power Point production; social media maintenance; document and template updates; marketing material production; website updates.

KPNW Community Benefit - Community Engagement will be rolling out a new volunteer platform with a new vendor, Profits 4 Purpose (P4P) KPCares 2.0. The new platform comes with a huge increase in functionality and reporting. The Volunteer Outreach Coordinator will focus mainly on training staff throughout our region on how to log on, create a profile and enter new projects. There will also be outreach to nonprofit organizations, for volunteer opportunities.

Position Function: - Community Engagement portfolio, related to employee volunteer engagement both internally (with KPNW staff), and externally (with nonprofit organizations). Project will include training on our internal volunteer platform/website KPCares, including regional administrative responsibilities, contacting nonprofit organizations and joining site visits to external community partners.

  • Cross culturally connect local multicultural projects to the Business Resource Groups, (BRG-s), to increase employee engagement through volunteerism

  • Coordinate staff volunteer efforts by creating partnerships with nonprofit organizations that align with our Community Health Needs Assessment

  • Coordinate trainings for the upcoming new KPCares.org 2.0 platform/website

  • Develop marketing strategies to encourage new and current KPCares users to get active on KPCares.org by joining events as well as coordinating events

  • Understand the Community Health Needs Assessment

Essential Functions: - Intern will have the opportunity to learn our new volunteer platform/website, KPCares 2.0 and its functions. She/he will assist with the implementation of the new platform/website. She/he will need to learn and understand our Community Health Needs Assessment and how it relates to our work.

Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: Experience - N/A Education - High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required. - A college student of any age or background having completed at least 31 credits and enrolled the previous semester. License, Certification, Registration - N/A

Additional Requirements: - Must be willing to relocate to site of internship.

  • Public speaking and presentation skills are essential for all activities.

  • Microsoft office, adobe suites and power point skills are needed for this position.

  • His or her own transportation is a requirement.
