In field of internal combustion engines Eaton has been one of the largest producers of both valve and valve actuation products for over 75 years. In order to maintain the leading position in the market Eaton is investing its extensive system expertise and engineering excellence in the development of new technologies for the VT to help engine OEM to meet fuel consumption and emissions level as per future regulation requirements. For this reason Eaton is looking for Product Engineer for European Advanced VT engineering team. This person will have the responsibility to manage engineering activities intended to define, develop and validate new Valve Train solutions for future market, and will interact with a large worldwide team. Eaton Advanced Valve Train product line is part of the Engine Air Management group with a broader goal to support future engine efficiency growth, and therefore it is also a requirement the capability to interact with engineering teams of the other product lines inside EAM to achieve this common goal.
This Product Engineer is responsible for completing engineering activities associated with Engine Air Management products. Duties include interfacing with senior engineers and project teams in the areas of product design, development, improvement, testing, and failure analysis. This will imply a good knowledge of DFSS tools such as DFMEA, DVP&R, design scorecard, and also design tools such as GD&T, tolerance stack-up, FEA and other virtual simulation software. Achieving the desired results will require individual contributions as well as contributions attained as part of a team. In this role you will collaborate with team members located in Europe and other regions in order to engage in problem solving, product improvement, and cost reduction.
Participates as a team member on various engineering projects.
Provides regular status updates and participates in team planning sessions
Applies engineering concepts through product development stages: design, engineering calculations, stack-ups, validation testing
Resolves technical issues based on engineering analysis
Practices consistency across product designs, processes and practices. Documents improvements to the engineering standard work processes used to engineer our products
Plans and coordinates test executions and monitors progress and results. These activities will involve the utilization of engineering tools such as DFMEA and DVP&R. Analyzes test and measurement data utilizing Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) tools
Develops presentations and reports (data, technology description, etc) to be presented to internal and/or external customers. May have opportunities for customer interface
Applies an adequate level of computer literacy in the areas of engineering systems software, graphics, presentations, and multimedia
Complies with the policies, procedures, and expectations outlined by Eaton’s Management System for the Environment, Safety, Security, and Health (MESH) and Quality Management System
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited institution
2 years of product engineering / design and development / test engineering experience (including internships)
Capability with any 3D CAD software
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
Technical knowledge or exposure to any of the following:
Vehicle engine technologies (advanced boosting, valves, valve actuation technology for passenger cars and commercial vehicles)
Product validation process (design and process; DV & PV) and related processes/documentation (DFMEA, DVP&R, etc.)
Experience using Pro-E software
Practical understanding of statistical methods including Measurement System Analysis tools
