Job Summary

This is a contingent requisition for the position of Avionics Technician upon position availability.

Geographic location of assignment is at Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota. Inspects and performs organizational, intermediate, and/or depot level electronic maintenance and modifications on Predator and Reaper RPA/UAS systems and support equipment as required. Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents. Uses common test instruments such as digital multi-meters, signal generators, oscilloscopes and similar equipment to effect repairs.

Maintains, repairs, and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment, micro and mainframe computers, and industrial measuring, controlling and calibration devices. Performs basic configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, analysis and repair of databases, switches, networks, video systems, and long-haul communications.

Minimum Requirements

Education/Training: Must have AA degree, or have completed relevant military and/or vocational technical school curriculum. Employment category will be based on candidate’s experience and qualifications. Upon hiring, the company may provide up to a 12-week training class on RPA/UAS Predator/Reaper series maintenance conducted at Indian Springs/Creech AFB, NV; Grey Butte, CA or similar location as assigned. Students must achieve a passing grade in all required courses for continued employment. Additional “on the job” training may be required following the end of the initial training course. Upon successful completion of required training, the employee will report to Ellsworth AFB, SD.

Must have working knowledge of basic electronics; minimum of five to eight years of professional experience required. Must possess skills and knowledge in the operation of networks, both hardware and software to include network topology, standards, and protocols desired. Must possess an understanding of TELNET and FTP processes, as well as the Microsoft Office Professional suite of software (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

EMPLOYEE MUST MEET ALL OCONUS DEPLOYMENT CRITERIA, TO INCLUDE PRE-DEPLOYMENT MEDICAL SCREENING AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT. THIS IS A NON-TRADITIONAL POSITION THAT WILL SUPPORT A FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULE.

Must be able to provide proof of US Citizenship upon hire. DoD Top Secret Security Clearance eligibility is required. Must submit updated SF-86 within 30 days of hire start date. Must be able to gain/maintain the required security clearance level and special access authorization as a condition of continued employment. Must pass a company-administered Electronics Qualification Exam prior to hire.

Preferred Qualifications

Application of technical knowledge of electronic principles in determining malfunctions and skill application in restoring equipment systems and operations preferred.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Active DoD Security Clearance preferred.

Prior experience with RPA/UAS systems preferred.

Prior experience in aircraft avionics maintenance and repair preferred.

FCC radio telephone license preferred.

Knowledge and ability to administer UNIX and LINUX on both servers and workstations preferred.

Security + highly desired.

Installation, upgrading, and administering operating systems and application software in multi-user client/server environments, including UNIX and LINUX highly desired.
