Job Description

The Program Engineer will use their engineering knowledge, skills and experience to design and develop innovative medical devices, develop departmental systems to ensure efficient operations, manage complex projects and generate high value intellectual property. In addition, the incumbent will support other departments as needed to execute the company’s strategic plans.

Job Duties:

  • Conduct engineering testing.

  • Build prototypes and test samples.

  • Effectively use engineering tools, such as 3D modeling, statistical software and FEA in their daily work.

  • Take responsible for multi-disciplinary project teams and be capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Maintain responsibility for all aspects of a medical device or medical device system’s design.

  • Conduct independent engineering analysis (e.g. tolerance stack) on components and systems.

  • Originate, update and edit engineering drawings, work instructions, protocols, reports and specifications.

  • Support regulatory filings.

  • Maintain responsibilty for answering engineering related regulatory questions.

  • Support and lead the creation of intellectual property. This will include review of internal and external IP (primarily patents). Selection of component suppliers.

  • Act as the technical contact with outside suppliers for custom components.

  • Visualize, create and implement department and cross-department systems that improve efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Actively mentor and train other engineers.

  • Perform all other essential duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

(ONLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL BE CONSIDERED)

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field required; Master's Degree or other advanced degree is preferred.

  • Minimum of 8 years engineering experience working as an mechanical engineer in a product development environment is required.

  • Minimum of 2 years working in a highly regulated environment is highly preferred.

  • Engineering principals ISO certification and FDA compliance is desired.

  • Machine/prototyping/fabrication methods experience is desired.

  • Experience with designing, analyzing, prototyping, building, testing, and documenting is essential.

  • Mechanical drawing and use of CAD software experience is necessary.

  • SolidWorks experience is preferred.

  • Realistic scheduling and observance of deadlines is necessary.

  • Ability to apply engineering principles to methodically solve technical challenges is desired.

  • Must be able to work under pressure with multiple priorities.

  • Must be able to maintain accurate written records and documentation.

  • Proven record of consistently following through on commitments is essential.

  • Must be able to maintain and communicate realistic schedules and meets or beats deadlines.

  • Must have service oriented approach, flexible and proactive towards changing needs.

  • Must be exceptionally team focused and actively contributes to a positive and innovative work environment.

  • Must have ability to work precisely according to procedures, rules and regulations, have a passion for continuous improvement and quality.

  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint is necessary.

  • Microsoft Visio skills are desired.

  • Superior writing, composition, English grammar skills are essential.

  • Must be able to demonstrate the highest ethical standards, actively promotes trust, respect and integrity in all dealings both inside and outside the Company.
