CACI International Counter-WMD Biological Engineer/Scientist in Reston, Virginia

Job Description:

CACI is seeking a Counter-WMD Biological Engineer/Scientist to perform complex intelligence analyses related to counter-biological warfare (BW) and biodefense topics. Candidate will serve as a SME in applying biology and/or biological engineering concepts for investigating, evaluating and developing C-WMD analytic tools and methodologies. The candidate will work to collect data from studies, assessments and projections as part of the analysis process. They are responsible for developing and/or overseeing production of technical reports and briefings, project deliverables, and other finished products.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead the implementation of counter-BW projects through a broad array of expertise in biological agents and precursors, their production processes, associated programs and emerging threats and technologies.

• Resolve problems, extend and modify techniques, and/or apply new, innovative, or experimental theories using biological and mathematical techniques to analyze and evaluate scientific and engineering problems.

• Develop preliminary and conceptual design processes and studies, and provide expert advice and direction to other professionals.

• Lead the development of strategies for the sustainment and future growth of counter-BW efforts.

• Coordinate with interagency partners on requirements for new counter-BW-focused RDT&E projects.

• Conceive and develop solutions to complex analytical, design, and test problems.

• Plan and conduct analysis and testing of new technologies transitioning to eventual operational capabilities

• Write and publish complex reports and results in scientific journals and conference proceedings; present work at scientific conferences and review meetings; and contribute to written documentation of planned and accomplished research for internal purposes.

EDUCATION:

Typically requires a BA degree or equivalent and 7-9 years of related experience. Masters or PhD degree is preferred.

Required Qualifications:

• BA degree required in Biology, Biological Engineering, or other relevant physical science; Masters or PhD degree is preferred.

• Background in Biological defense, Biotechnology, Counter-WMD applications, and/or Intelligence research, collection, and analysis.

• Seven to nine years of professional experience and relevant intelligence experience in the DoD or IC.

• Proficiency with advanced analytical and modeling techniques.

• Active TS/SCI level clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

• PhD in Biology, Biological Engineering, or other relevant physical science.

• Experience in process engineering and modeling.

• Experience across the full spectrum of CBRN threats particularly in predicting emerging threats.

• Experience working within and leading a team of scientists addressing counter biological weapons issues.

• Understanding and experience working CW issues.
