This position requires a unique individual who must be able to understand complex data sets and recommend various analytical models that best support the Category and Supplier Management team’s needs. The candidate must have financial acumen as well as the ability to define and design the metrics and reporting. The scope of the position is such that the candidate will work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. They must be able to exercise judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criterion for obtaining results.
The ideal candidate must have strong technical aptitude as this position will be expected to combine multiple internal and external data sources related to sales, market share and product information to deliver new value and insights into multiple areas of the business. These include input into sales tools, market share and growth analysis as well as ad hoc analysis pertaining to category performance and strategy development.
Due to the nature of the data, the candidate will also develop the methodologies to combine the multiple data sources and provide the supporting information to provide consistent and repeatable analysis. In addition to creating reports, they should be comfortable with and focus on automation to increase throughput of analysis to category managers as well as the Category Analyst team at large.
In addition to management and stewardship of key category and category manager data, the position will be required to identify and produce Ad Hoc and standing metrics with respect product category performance. It is expected that person will work closely with the Lab team to develop and deliver reporting, develop new datasets, sales and category manager facing tools and lead the category managers to new data and analysis as it becomes available.
Create new processes to measure Category performance and analyze key initiatives. Produce Ad Hoc and standing metrics to support Category Strategies. Develop new methods to target customers for lab solutions based on internal and external data sources.
Maintain key datasets and cross references to enable reporting such as category rollups, Lab Equipment Placement tracking, Reagent trail expected value and customer compliance.
Perform Detailed cost analysis leveraging MMS contract data, cost history and market data to suggest target items and cost negotiation goals.
Assist in identifying new data needs, defining scope and requirements and testing of new data available within McKesson’s Enterprise Data Warehouse.
Manage Ad Hoc request funnel and work with the Category Management to communicate received requests and manage priority on regular basis.
- 8+ experience in analytics or related field
Demonstrated ability to understand complex data sets and recommend various analytical models
Experience using and communicating data analysis and key findings
Strong SQL Query authoring ability
Strong ability to generate meaningful data to influence action
Additional Knowledge & Skills
Strong understanding of data manipulation, data relationships, spreadsheets, queries, and business intelligence tools
Highly proficient in data query tools (SQL, Access, Excel, etc.)
Healthcare industry & product knowledge
- BA or BS degree or equivalent experience.
