Performs various maintenance tasks & repairs most equipment & machinery utilized in the Medical Center. Operates machines vital to performing of maintenance & repair.
Essential Functions: - Upholds KP's Policies & Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities & applicable state, federal & local laws - Performs various maintenance tasks such as replacing filters, lubricating bearings & repairing cabinets - Performs minor electrical repairs such as bed lamps, non-complex electrical devices, changing ballast's, repairing electrical line cords, fixing light switches, isolating electrical problems & replacing fuses - Conducts electrical safety test on equipment, electrical plugs & outlets - Unclogs pipes & plumbing fixtures & related equipment as necessary - Performs routine repairs on such equipment as stethoscopes, otoscopes, ophthalmoscopes, vacuum units, cart washers, autoclaves, oxygen outlets, air outlets, suction pumps, hospital beds, sinks, toilets & other associated hospital plant equipment - Completes minor work assignments to include routine installations of plant equipment, hanging of signs & pictures, adjusting & maintaining time clocks - Determines type & extent of equipment malfunction, adjusting, disassembling, repairing or replacing of parts & components; reassembles & tests equipment for safe & proper operation by reading blueprints, diagrams & repair manuals - Performs preventative maintenance to include cleaning, oiling, painting, calibration & other related services to extend the life cycle of equipment, or to maintain a clean safe, hygienic environmental work area - Through on-the-job training assists skilled maintenance persons in trade tasks in which the employee is not certified - Performs other work related duties as required to include driving trucks or vans to outlying clinics or remote areas to facilitate or expedite maintenance requirements - Promotes, ensures & improves customer service to internal/external customers by demonstrating skills which are consistent w/ the organization's philosophy of providing extraordinary customer relations & quality service - Assume other activities & responsibilities from time to time as directed

Basic Qualifications: - Six (6) months previous hospital maintenance experience & computer skills preferred - Current valid California Drivers License (Class 3) - During the two (2) year period immediately preceding the date of application, must have a driving record which is free of incidents involving the applicant's negligence - Driving record must not reflect more than two (2) moving violations during the same two-year period - Also free of citations w/ forfeit for bail for driving while under the influence of drugs or reckless driving - Must attach a current CQA driver record information sheet, obtained within the last month - License & driving record will be verified - Must pass the basic skills test - Basic knowledge of electrical & HVAC systems - Familiar w/ use of common tools & have physical balance & coordination
Notes: - This is a temporary position for approximately six (6) months. - Schedule to include rotating weekends, holidays and floating within the established seniority section.
