Overview:

Provides institutional training assistance and oversight to the National Guard Military Schools (NGMS) in all matters relating to Ranger and Sniper training. Initiates and coordinates the integration of Ranger, Sniper and Practical Exercises (PE) into NGMS Programs of Instruction/Training Support Packages (POIs/TSPs). Mentors and coaches the NGSM Director of Training (DOT) and Internal Security School/FS Commander (ISS/FS), staff and instructors in weapons, modernized equipment, and the tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) of supporting POIs. Supervises the training of POIs and training requirements using the systems approach to training in the NGMS.

A. Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the integration and coordination of POI/TSP and associated courseware (Ranger, Sniper and PE).

  2. Provides assistance and training to NGMS officers/NCOs in support of NGMS Ranger and Sniper institutional training, as required.

  3. Coordinates with ISSFS Commander in matters of training requirements, scheduling, rehearsals, TTPs, weapons, and equipment.

  4. Coordinates with the NGMS DOT and Commander ISS/FS for any faculty or institutional training needs, as required.

  5. Assists OPM-SANG and NGMS with implementation of training programs, as required.

  6. Performs other mission-related tasks as required.

  7. Responsible for assisting the POI Development Section on revisions, as required.

  8. Actively recruits qualified applicants, conducts interviews, and recommends personnel actions as required to maintain employee strength required to perform the section's mission.

  9. Supervises Trainer-the-Trainer Courses.

  10. Conducts and submits in writing After Action Reviews (AARs).

B. Independence: Performs duties under the direction of Manager, Schools Assistance Branch (SAB). Accomplishes responsibilities independently within specialty area, IAW established objectives, policies, and procedures.

C. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises (17) U.S., (13) Saudi.

Qualifications:

A. Education level: Bachelor Degree or equivalent required. Officer courses preferred. Equivalent level civilian certifications may be substituted.

B. Experience: Former U.S. Military officer with at least eight years’ experience in U. S. Military supervisory training/training development and methods of instruction at battalion level, U. S. DoD Service School or higher. Civilian experience may be substituted.

C. Specific Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements: Ranger qualified required; Sniper qualified preferred. Must have knowledge and experience with the Systems Approach to Training and basic U.S. Army training methodologies. Management ability to supervise training and development of a multi-national work force in a multi-cultural environment. Must possess superior ability to express thoughts both orally and written. Proficient in MS Office suite software, Portable Document Format (PDF) and Basic Local Area Network (LAN) required.
